Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 398

"Then I'll spare her the heartbreak for as long as I can."

Liam dragged a hand down his face. He knew his patient's stubbornness—once Hudson made a decision, a team of wild horses couldn't drag him away from it.

"My mentor told me about an underground specialist. Supposedly, the guy's a miracle worker when it comes to neurotoxins. I've already sent people to track him down. Hopefully, we can find him and see if he can cure this poison."

Hudson waved the comment away dismissively. "Never mind that for now. When will my vision return?"

Liam fell silent for a heavy moment, then reached into his pocket and pulled out a sterile pack of acupuncture needles.

"I'll try releasing the pressure and drawing some blood."

"Will it work?"

"Like I said... I'll try."

Hudson's expression went terrifyingly blank for a second before he let out a dark chuckle. "Fine. Try it."

Liam didn't waste any time. He unwrapped the silver needles, sanitized them, located the precise pressure points, and drove them in, one by one.

Hudson kept his eyes closed. Aside from a slight flinch in his brow, he didn't make a sound.

A sheen of cold sweat broke out on Liam's forehead. His fingers twisted the needles with expert precision, adjusting the depth every few minutes to stimulate blood flow.

Once the needles were set, he grabbed a surgical lancet from the tray and made swift, calculated punctures on the tips of Hudson's ears and fingers.

Droplets of dark, sludgy blood surfaced. The color was entirely unnatural—a sickly, almost blackish crimson.

Liam frowned in concentration, rapidly wiping it away with sterile gauze and squeezing the wounds until the blood finally ran a healthy, bright red.

An agonizing amount of time passed before Liam finally withdrew the needles and took a step back.

Hudson opened his eyes.

"Well?"

Hudson raised a surprised eyebrow. "I didn't think a quack like you actually had real skills."

"You can see?"

"Yeah."

The rigid tension in Liam's shoulders finally snapped. He wiped the sweat off his forehead and exhaled a massive breath.

"Should I go get your wife?"
