Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 743

Hudson turned his face away.

Nora's heart plummeted into her stomach.

She sniffled and pulled her phone from her pocket. "If you won't tell me the truth, I'm calling Jude right now."

As she spoke, she opened her contacts.

Hudson reached out and gently caught her wrist.

Nora looked up, meeting his eyes.

Hudson remained silent for a few seconds before finally speaking. "The Winslow family did have an Ivory Pill, but it was used when their patriarch fell gravely ill... The pill is gone."

Nora fought back a fresh wave of tears. "Without The Ivory Pill, what's going to happen to you?"

Hudson's lips curved into a faint smile. "Don't worry, Dr. Harrison and Dr. Vane are still looking for alternatives..."

"Don't lie to me." Nora cut him off. "You promised no more lies."

Hudson paused. "...I won't make it past two months."

Nora's tears spilled over again, dropping onto his shirt and leaving dark, damp stains against the fabric.

Her eyes ached fiercely, completely drained of energy.

Hudson wrapped his arms around her, pressing her against his chest as he gently stroked her back.

After what felt like an eternity, Nora finally lifted her head. Her eyes were puffy, her nose red, and her eyelashes still clumped with moisture.

She sniffled, wiping her face with her sleeve. When she spoke, her voice was thick but far steadier than before. "Okay. Two months is two months. We can treat two months like a lifetime."

Hudson's throat worked, and he parted his lips to speak, but the words caught. He couldn't force a single syllable out.

Nora sniffled again, her voice slightly raspy. "Let's go home."

He dipped his head, resting his forehead against hers as their breaths mingled in the quiet space.

"...Okay."

...

The private jet took off into the night sky, piercing through the clouds toward San Francisco.

Outside the window, the sky was a deep, inky blue, dotted with sparse stars.

Nora fell asleep leaning against Hudson's shoulder, her eyelashes still damp.

Hudson scooped her up in his arms and carried her to the master suite, gently laying her down on the plush bed and pulling a light blanket over her.

His phone vibrated in his pocket.

He immediately muted it, glancing down to ensure Nora was still sound asleep before stepping out of the room.

Looking at the screen, he saw an incoming audio call from Dr. Liam Harrison.

"Hello..."

"Mr. Lancaster, I've looked into what you asked. River had a phone conversation with Henry a few days ago..."
