Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 788

"Hunter got caught red-handed by his grandfather, and now he's cornered in the memorial hall."

Nora was instantly wide awake.

She sat up straight, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Caught red-handed doing what?"

Hudson gave her a side glance, a small smile playing on his lips. "You'll see when we get there."

...

Hamilton Manor was older than Lancaster Hall. It was a true traditional estate with gray brick walls, sweeping eaves, and a courtyard shaded by massive, ancient locust trees that practically blocked out the night sky.

When the car pulled up to the courtyard entrance, loud, chaotic voices could already be heard from inside.

Grant was pacing frantically in front of the memorial hall. When he saw Hudson and Nora step out of the car, his eyes lit up, and he rushed over in three massive strides. "Hudson! Thank God you're here!"

As he spoke, he caught sight of Nora and quickly added, "Nora came too?"

"Yeah," Hudson replied, skipping the pleasantries. "Where are they?"

"Locked inside!"

Grant stepped aside to point at the hall. "Grandpa locked the doors, and he won't let anyone in. Hunter's in there, and so is that foreigner..."

He paused, dropping his voice to a whisper. "The foreigner got dragged in too. He keeps saying he and Hunter are completely innocent, but Grandpa isn't buying a word of it."

Hudson didn't respond, simply striding toward the memorial hall.

Nora followed closely beside him. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed the Hamilton family staff standing on either side of the courtyard. Every single one of them had their heads bowed, too terrified to even breathe. It was clear the chaos tonight had shaken everyone.

The heavy, red-lacquered wooden doors of the memorial hall were shut tight, locked from the outside. A thin sliver of yellow light seeped through the crack.
