**Chapter 299: Drove the Lamborghini**
*Deanna’s POV:*
I burst out of the villa, my heart racing as I put some distance between myself and the lavish building. Just a few yards away, I hesitated, my breath catching in my throat. Luis was leaning against the sleek body of the car, a picture of relaxed defiance, but there was something unsettling about his appearance. His face bore an unnatural flush, a stark contrast to the cool night air.
His eyes were closed, and the gentle breeze tousled his short hair, making him look almost ethereal in the dim light. He was a pure-blood Alpha, a being who could command respect and instill fear in the hearts of werewolves. Yet, in this moment, he seemed almost fragile, like a delicate flower caught in a storm, and that realization sparked a flicker of concern deep within me.
The night wind whispered through the branches overhead, creating a soft symphony that accompanied my thoughts. I stood there, rooted to the spot, watching him with a mixture of admiration and worry. My emotions churned inside me, a tempest of confusion that slowly morphed into something more tangible—anxiety.
After what felt like an eternity, I let out a soft sigh, breaking the spell that held me captive. With hesitant steps, I made my way toward him, each footfall echoing my inner turmoil. It felt as though something was snapping within me, a barrier crumbling under the weight of my feelings.
In front of Luis, I was utterly defenseless. He must have sensed my presence because, as if drawn by an invisible thread, he opened his eyes. The moonlight cast a soft glow in their depths, illuminating his features. When his gaze landed on me, a flicker of surprise danced across his handsome face.
As I approached the car, he reached out, grabbing my wrist with a firm yet gentle grip, pulling me inside. I settled into his lap, my heart racing for reasons I couldn’t quite decipher.
“You actually came?” he asked, his voice a low, gravelly murmur that sent shivers down my spine.
I rolled my eyes, trying to mask my irritation with a playful glare. “I came to collect your body,” I shot back, unable to resist the urge to tease him.
A chuckle escaped his lips as he buried his face against my neck, inhaling deeply. “I’m all yours. Collect me however you wish,” he replied, his tone laced with a teasing warmth.
I frowned, a mix of exasperation and concern swirling within me. Why did he have to be so reckless with his health? It was infuriating to see him so nonchalant about his well-being.
Then, his voice broke through my thoughts again, low and slightly raspy. “I missed you.”
I blinked, taken aback. “We literally saw each other this morning,” I reminded him, my tone incredulous.
“It’s nighttime now,” he countered, a hint of a pout forming on his lips. “It’s been six hours. Why don’t you just move back to Crestwood Park, hmm?”
I chose silence, my fingers reaching up to touch his forehead. The heat radiating from him was alarming—far worse than I had anticipated.
“You’re burning up. You need to go to the hospital,” I insisted, my voice firm.
After a few moments, I heard Luis’s lazy voice cutting through the rush of wind. “Floor it.”
I bit my lip, staring at him as if he had lost his mind. “Excuse me?!”
“This isn’t fast enough for you? There’s a red light up ahead!” he exclaimed, barely lifting his eyelids.
I was taken aback, my heart racing for a different reason now. I slammed on the brakes, my pulse quickening as I realized how close I had come to running that light.
Forty minutes later, we finally arrived at Crestwood Park. As I stepped out of the car, my legs felt unsteady, like jelly beneath me. I shot an annoyed glare at the arrogant Lamborghini, feeling a mix of frustration and disbelief.
“Dummy,” I muttered under my breath.
Luis ruffled my hair playfully, a grin spreading across his face. “You’re just not used to it. I’ll teach you next time,” he said, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
“No thanks,” I replied, shaking my head vehemently. I had no desire to ever touch that kind of car again in my life.
