Chapter 356 Full Definition of a Scumbag
Chapter 356 Full Definition of a Scumbag
Erik’s POV:
My jaw actually dropped.
“Luis, you’re serious? You’re insane! Do you even grasp what twenty percent means? If Deanna ever turned on you, those shares are enough to topple you.”
“I know.”
“Then, why-”
I honestly wanted to knock some sense into this love–drunk Alpha.
But Luis was dead serious. “The hundredth step is mine–toward her. That’s the security I want her to feel.”
A servant approached, bowing slightly.
“Alpha, Ms. Deanna has returned.”
Luis and I looked up. Deanna was crossing the long colonnade toward us, sunlight skimming over her shoulders.
I smiled and waved. “Hey, Deanna. Long time.”
She nodded. “You’re here too today?”
For some reason, she gave me a once–over, eyes curious, almost probing.
“Mm. Puddy’s routine check,” I said, keeping it cool.
“Nothing wrong with him?”
“Don’t worry. Just the usual. He’s spry as ever–got a few more years in those paws.”
Deanna nodded. “Good.”
“Still not leaving?” Luis cut in, eyes cool on me.
I was speechless for a moment.
No dinner invite–just a boot.
I glanced at Luis’s stormy face.
I couldn’t help roasting him in my head, Loyal t he sees a pretty face, huh?
Somebody forgot brotherhood the second his mate walked in.
I gave Deanna an awkward smile. “Deanna, I’ve got errands. See you two next time.”
I grabbed my kit and made myself scarce.
Deanna’s POV:
Once Erik left, my gaze drifted back to Luis.
He lounged in the wicker chair, one leg crossed over the other, staring at his phone.
The flowers were blazing, the sun was warm–yet a chill sat over the garden.
I stepped up to him. “Hey.”
No answer. The screen’s light flickered over the hard lines of his face, making his profile look even colder.
Mila murmured in my head, “Our mate seems a bit … prickly.”
Huh?
I tested him, lightly. “Ignoring me? Guess I’ll go back to the room.”
Luis still didn’t move.
Fine. I ignored him, too and turned to leave.
The moment I turned, a big hand caught my wrist from behind.
Luis gave a light tug, and I landed squarely on his thick, muscled thigh.
Heat climbed into my cheeks. “Servants are around.”
There were four gates on this lawn, each staffed by two very proper servants.
They never stared–but still.
I still felt embarrassed.
Luis slid his hand into my palm, thumb grazing my fingertips before he laced our fingers tight. His voice dipped, lazy and rough.
“So what? You’re the lady of the house.”
Ugh, this man.
“You and Erik go way back. What’s his… perspective like? Specifically, his dating perspective?”
Luis’s POV:
Erik again?
She’d barely walked in, and they were chatting like old friends.
Pink bubbles in her eyes, staring like he’s candy.
Now she wanted intel–in front of me?
My mood tanked. I answered, my voice sour, “Why do you want to know?”
She tugged my arm, sweet as sugar. “Tell me?”
All that coaxing–over another man?
That’s it. Erik is banned from my house.
I didn’t blink. “He’s a hopeless flirt.”
Her eyes flew wide. “No way.”
I kept piling it on, voice flat. “Silver–tongued with women, fickle, noncommittal–the full definition of a scumbag.”
