Chapter 362 The Wrong Girl to Mess With
Deanna’s POV:
On my way to the restroom, my nose caught a familiar human scent.
I looked up to see a girl dressed in a server’s uniform walking toward me with a tray in her hands.
Maggie?
Ever since she’d sent me that apology over text, she’d completely dropped off the radar.
Maggie froze the moment she spotted me.
“D–Deanna.”
I glanced at her uniform. “What are you doing here?”
“I’m working a catering shift. They’re paying a thousand bucks a day.”
I paused for a moment, then asked, “How have you been lately?”
Maggie hung her head, her voice thick with the threat of tears.
“Deanna, last time … I really didn’t mean for that to happen. I’m so sorry.”
“You’ve already apologized a dozen times over WhatsApp.”
Maggie sniffled. “I don’t have the nerve to face you anymore. Just pretend you don’t know
me.”
With that, she turned to leave.
I caught her arm before she could walk away, looking into her reddened eyes.
“What happened last time was an accident. It wasn’t like you wanted it to happen.”
Maggie lifted her head, choking back a sob. “You’re not … mad at me? Because of my stupidity, you almost…”
I smiled. “Oh, I’m mad at you alright. Mad that you didn’t even have the guts to apologize in person. What a chicken.”
Dea
That made her cry even harder. “Deanna…”

“Alright, enough with the waterworks. You’re still on the clock, aren’t you? Someone’s going to see you out here and you’ll never hear the end of it.”
Maggie wiped her tears. “You’re right. I need to get back to work. I’ll come find you another time, okay?”
I nodded.
Maggie took a few steps, then suddenly doubled back.
“Oh, Deanna, there’s something I need to tell you. After Zelena drugged you that time, I wanted to get revenge for you, so I went looking for her. But she and her parents were gone. People said they fled overseas.”
I’d actually done my own digging on Zelena after that.
The gist of it was that Zelena had taken money from Ruth and skipped town.
Maggie continued, “I happened to go to school with the daughter of their neighbor. She told me recently that she’s been hearing noises from next door. If Zelena’s back, she’s definitely going to come after you. Please be careful.”
Someone called for Maggie from down the hall.
“I gotta go.”
After Maggie left, I stood there for a moment, lost in thought.
Logically, if Zelena had fled the country, there’d be no reason for her to come back–unless things hadn’t worked out for her abroad.
I rested my hand on my belly.
Now that I had a child to protect, I couldn’t afford to take any risks.
I freshened up and stepped out of the restroom.
A commotion drifted from the rear hall.
The villa’s event space was divided into a main hall and two smaller wings at the front and back.
The rear hall was closest to the ladies‘ room, so it was mostly filled with women.
I had no interest in getting involved in whatever drama was unfolding and started heading
