Chapter 375 The Rescue
Third–person POV:
Light from outside poured across the warehouse, bathing it in a trace of warmth.
Luis strode in from the doorway, wrapped in a cutting, frigid aura.
Maggie lifted her head and saw the tall man at the threshold.
She wiped her eyes–this wasn’t a dream. Luis was really here. They were saved!
She turned to call Deanna, only to see Deanna with her eyes closed. Maggie’s face went white; she cried through a sob, “Mr. Eaton, hurry! Deanna, she … fainted!”
Luis, hearing the voice, looked toward the corner of the warehouse.
Deanna sat with her arms wrapped around herself, legs drawn up, forehead resting on her knees; stray hair veiled that pale, beautiful face.
At the sight-
Luis’s chest seized; his whole body jolted. His pupils turned feral; a horrifying blood–red flooded his eyes.
The next second, he sprang forward in several bounds and swept Deanna into his arms.

Hoarse, he called her again and again, “Deanna, Deanna, look–it’s me. I’m here…”
Damn it!
She did not answer.
Luis didn’t dare waste a breath; he lifted her at once, rose, and ran for the door.
In her haze, Deanna felt a wash of warmth against her–and with it that all–too–familiar scent of cedar.
She forced her eyes open; the man’s hard, taut jawline edged into view.
Her lips moved faintly, her voice soft and weak. Lu… is, you… scolded me.

Scalding tears dropped, landing on Deanna’s pale cheek. His voice rasped, pleading, “Deanna, I won’t scold you. Just don’t sleep, okay?”
Deanna wanted to say she was only tired–that she’d wake after a moment’s rest.
But she was too spent; no words came, and she slipped under again.
Luis didn’t dare delay another instant; he charged out with her in his arms.
A suffocating pall seemed to drape the entire villa; a heavy, crushing pressure weighed on every heart.
The werewolf guests in the banquet hall traded panicked looks, each too rattled to care for anything else.
They knew the night had blown up completely.
They prayed Deanna–and the pup in her belly would be safe.
Otherwise, with a madman like Luis—
He might take them all down with him!
