Third-person POV:
Hazel felt the tension in the air. The invisible clash made the whole room feel tight and heavy.
The charity gala she worked so hard to prepare hadn't even started yet. She absolutely couldn't let the feud between Bluestone Pack and Mooncrown Pack ruin the night.
She forced out a smooth, diplomatic smile and hurried forward.
"Hahaha, everyone, let's remember tonight is about giving love and support to people with disabilities. We're about to begin—please take your seats."
Jennifer shot Deanna one more hateful glare before finally turning away.
Victoria quickly gave the guests an apologetic smile.
"She's young and still learning. Please don't mind her."
Then she chased after Jennifer.
"Jenni, I told you not to talk like that! Do you know how many reporters are here tonight? If this gets out, it'll ruin your image and the Bluestone Pack's!"
Jennifer dropped into her seat. She wanted to pull out a cigarette to cool down, but this was a charity gala, so she held back with visible irritation.
"Mom, that bitch crossed the line! How am I supposed to stay calm? If I hold it in any longer, I'm going to explode!"
Unlike Jennifer, Victoria wasn't hot-headed. She thought long-term.
"Your grandpa said Mr. Eaton might get pushed out at the Mooncrown Corporation summit. If he gets removed, that woman loses her support. You'll have all the chances you want to get even. I'll back you no matter what—so hold your temper, understand?"
Jennifer pouted. "Fine. I'll wait for now. But once I get my chance, she's done."
The charity gala officially began in a warm and excited atmosphere.
The host took the stage with a smile and introduced the event schedule and charity projects.
Deanna sat in the first row. Now and then, her gaze crossed Jennifer's from across the room.
Jennifer's eyes were full of hatred, sharp and cold like a knife.
Deanna only gave her a soft little smile. Her expression looked like someone watching a child throw a tantrum—calm, superior, almost pitying.
Jennifer's face twisted even further.
Violet returned from the hallway and sat beside Deanna. She leaned close to whisper.
"I just heard that after the charity auction, Victoria arranged for Jennifer to perform on stage. That's our chance."
Deanna nodded.
"If I had been there that night, I would've torn that woman apart with my claws. She wouldn't have had the chance to hurt anyone."
Violet glared toward Jennifer.
"Let's see her embarrass herself tonight. We'll make sure everyone watches. And we'll avenge my goddaughter while we're at it."
Deanna placed a gentle hand on her belly.
Onstage, the host introduced the first auction item.
"Congratulations to the Luna of Mooncrown Pack for winning our first luxury item tonight—the emerald necklace!"
Violet blinked. "Wait, is that for me?"
Deanna smiled and nodded.
If they weren't in public, Violet would've hugged her on the spot.
"Oh my God, I'm so touched!"
Deanna watched her with amusement and said calmly, "It's Luis's money."
"Oh."
Violet's excitement dropped by half.
Deanna added, "So can you delete that recording from earlier?"
Violet nearly exploded.
Damn!
I was so touched a second ago!
And she did it for that stubborn man?
This woman has zero loyalty!
