Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 417

Deanna's POV:

I still remember the first night I came here. Jake pulled Peggie out of the pool, and I was mocked by everyone around.

It was Luis who showed up, domineering and unreasonable, and dragged me up here with him.

That wild, unrestrained feeling, like a horse breaking free of the reins, was something I felt for the first time.

I wouldn't dare say that was when I fell for him.

But it was indeed here that my feelings for this man began to change.

Back then, I didn't understand what that feeling was.

Thinking back now, it was probably called warmth.

One of the very few moments of warmth I've felt in over twenty years of my life.

On the mountaintop, the deep inky-blue sky was like a vast canopy overhead. The stars were scattered and brilliant, like gemstones set into the darkness, so close it felt as if I could reach out and pluck them down.

The fresh air, carrying the scent of earth, made me breathe in a little deeper.

We got out of the car and leaned against the front of the convertible. It was a perfect spot. Neon lights adorned the entire city below, and together with the endless sky, everything unfolded before us without reservation.

"Make a wish."

"The meteors aren't out yet," I said softly, looking up at the sky.

Luis gave a low chuckle. "This time, I'll make it come true for you. No need to wait for them."

I turned my head and shot him a reproachful look, though a smile spread in my eyes despite myself.

I hadn't planned to make a wish anyway, because the wish I wanted had already come true, right by my side.

I just wanted to revisit this place.
