Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 416

Deanna's POV:

He shut me down immediately, and my rebellious streak flared up at once. I lifted my chin and complained to him.

"Ever since I got pregnant, I haven't had drinks, coffee, or tea at all. Do you know how miserable it is to watch my coworkers order coffee every afternoon? It's just one ice cream, and you still won't let me have it. You really do love the baby more than me."

Luis's tone softened instantly. "Piggy, can we be fair? I love the baby because I love you."

"Then are you letting me eat it or not?"

Luis pressed his lips together, then made a phone call and got straight to the point.

"Can pregnant women eat ice cream?"

On the other end, Erik's lazy voice came through. "Deanna wants some, doesn't she? A little is fine, just not too much."

Other people Google it.

But this Alpha has his own private doctor.

So I picked a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

At last, I got my first bite of ice cream in four months.

It wasn't that I desperately wanted it.

It's just that when you're told you can't have something, you want to taste it even more.

This damn rebellious psychology.

I ate my ice cream and walked ahead of Luis, the corner of my mouth lifting unconsciously.

Suddenly, Luis took a long step forward, wrapped an arm around my waist, looked at me gently, reached out, and lightly wiped away a smudge of cream at the corner of my lips.

Feeling the warmth of his fingertips, my cheeks heated up without my consent.

After we finished wandering around, we got back into the car.

Luis lounged in the driver's seat. It was probably warm, so he undid two buttons on his shirt cuff. One hand rested lazily on the steering wheel. "Can we go home now, my Luna?"

When he said that, I thought again of the photos and asked meaningfully, "Go where?"

Only then did I remember the time we made wishes on that mountaintop.

The way he called me stupid and said I was heartless.

Back then, I didn't understand what he meant.

Now I seemed to vaguely get it.

That scheming bastard was actually jealous even then.

The belated realization made my ears burn. Embarrassment mixed with an indescribable sweetness surged up, and I snapped in flustered anger, "Are you going or not?"

Luis glanced sideways at me, then suddenly reached out, leaned across the console, and gently pinched my earlobe with slightly calloused fingers, speaking lazily.

"Of course." He chuckled softly, his voice full of pleasure, withdrew his hand, and gripped the steering wheel again. "When Luna gives an order, how could I dare not obey?"

Just like that.

We arrived once more at the quiet yet open mountaintop.
