Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 425

Deanna's POV:

In the VIP ward.

Violet held my hand and asked anxiously, "Deanna. I heard Erik say that you were the one who saved Puddy. What exactly happened?"

Looking at her worried yet curious eyes, I knew I couldn't hide it anymore, nor was there any need to.

I lowered my gaze and answered honestly, "Violet, there's something I never told you. Actually, I'm a healer..."

Violet's eyes widened, her face frozen as if struck by lightning, her words stumbling out, "You mean... the healer from the legends, with healing abilities... the extremely rare healer... that's you?!"

I nodded.

She slapped her thigh excitedly. "My best friend is actually a healer. That's such a flex!"

But very quickly, worry returned to her face. "So you passed out because you were saving Puddy? Do you know you almost destabilized the baby earlier? We were scared to death. From now on, you have to put your own body first!"

I lowered my eyes. "If it weren't for me, Puddy wouldn't have been poisoned. Using some of my energy to save him was the least I could do."

"Deanna, listen to me clearly. This is Zelena's fault, not yours!"

Violet clenched her teeth. "That woman will do anything to get what she wants. If I ever see her, I'll beat her senseless."

I sighed softly. "Sometimes I wonder... if I hadn't withdrawn my investment from Zelena's design studio back then, would none of this have happened? Would Puddy still be fine?"

"No!" Violet cut in firmly. "A woman like her is fueled by jealousy. Even without that, something else would have triggered her. She would still stop at nothing to hurt others!"

Violet said, "In any case, Deanna, Puddy is still alive. That's the greatest blessing. You have to look forward."

Just then, someone pushed the ward door open from the outside.

Luis walked in, tall and straight, carrying two metal thermal containers that looked very expensive.

"You didn't eat anything tonight. Have some soup to settle your stomach."

I had no appetite and shook my head. "I don't want to eat."

He seemed to have expected this. He didn't force me, only placing the spoon back into the bowl. With his free hand, he gently held my slightly cold fingers.

"The doctor said you're a bit anemic, and your energy field is severely depleted. You have to eat."

He paused, his thumb brushing lightly over the back of my hand. His voice dropped even lower, carrying a trace of quiet pleading. "Deanna, please eat for Puddy's sake. He's still in a coma. He needs you to recover your strength so you can help him later. Just eat a little, alright?"

At the mention of Puddy, my heart tightened again.

That's right. Puddy still needs me. I have to get better. I can't collapse first.

Looking into his eyes, filled with both tenderness and unwavering resolve, I gently nodded and reached out to take the warm bowl of soup.
