Violet's POV:

Erik and I were walking one behind the other when we saw Luis carrying Deanna, heading straight toward us.

Deanna was being discharged today, and I had originally come to keep her company.

But seeing Luis carrying her like this, I stood there feeling a bit awkward.

I didn't know whether to approach them or not.

Erik, following behind me, chuckled. "What's the matter? Jealous? I can carry you, too, you know."

I rolled my eyes at him. "Like hell you will. I'm not even pregnant."

"Well, why don't you try getting pregnant then? Maybe I'd be even more attentive than Luis."

"Get lost."

Deanna's POV:

Luis carried me all the way and set me down in the passenger seat.

He closed the door, walked around the hood, settled into the driver's seat, and casually started the engine.

The sleek black Ferrari glided smoothly down the road.

The sun was beautiful today, casting golden light across the earth, and the pine trees lining the road left dappled shadows dancing through the car windows as we passed.

Luis had one hand resting against the window and the other on the steering wheel. He wore a white custom-tailored dress shirt today, no tie.

The shadows of the trees played across his chiseled profile, softening his sharp jawline and making him look devastatingly handsome.

I couldn't help but lean over the center console and poke his sculpted arm. "Aren't we going home?"

Luis glanced at me from the corner of his eye without saying a word. He switched hands on the steering wheel and wrapped his other hand around my fidgeting one, his warm fingertips grazing my ring finger ever so lightly.

"We're going somewhere."

"Where?"

"You'll see."

The Ferrari turned a corner, continued straight down the road, and pulled to a stop in front of the city hall.
