I woke up to the sound of birds singing outside my window. Their cheerful chirping filtered into my room like a cruel reminder of how light the world could be while my own felt unbearably heavy. I slowly opened my eyes and turned my head toward the window.

Morning sunlight streamed through the curtains, painting the walls in soft gold. Outside, birds flew freely from branch to branch, unbothered, unafraid, living without the weight of expectations, betrayal, or pain.

For a brief moment, I wished my life could be like theirs.

I sighed deeply and pushed myself into a sitting position on the bed. My body felt rested, but my mind certainly wasn’t. Last night, sleep had refused to come easily.

MEvery time I closed my eyes, my thoughts spiraled back to the same question what should I do now?

I had tossed and turned until the early hours of the morning, replaying every possible outcome in my head. If I went ahead with my plan, would people see me as desperate? Would they say I was trying too hard to reclaim something that was already lost? Would they mock me behind my back, whispering that the disgraced Luna was finally losing her mind?

You worry too much, my wolf murmured inside my head, her voice calm but firm.

I rubbed my temples and leaned back against the headboard. Tell me honestly, I asked her. If I go ahead with thisif I tell Ethan everything won’t they all look at me like I’m desperate?

My wolf snorted softly. People will talk regardless of what you do Raven. If you stay silent, they’ll say you’re weak. If you fight, they’ll say you’re desperate. So why not do what gives you peace instead of worrying about their mouths?

I closed my eyes. And Ethan? I whispered. How will he believe me when Vera has been here for two months, living as his

mate?

There was a pause before my wolf answered, her tone gentler this time. That is his choice. Your duty is to speak your truth. Whether he believes it or not is no longer your burden.

I exhaled shakily. I’ll tell him, I said. I’ll tell him everything. And if he chooses not to believe me, then that’s on him. I won’t carry the blame anymore.

Good, my wolf said approvingly. You’ve carried enough.

With a renewed sense of resolve, I slid off the bed and headed straight for the bathroom. I showered quickly, letting the warm water wash over me as if it could rinse away the heaviness clinging to my soul. When I stepped out, I dressed in a simple, comfortable outfitnothing fancy, nothing that screamed Luna,” just something that felt like me.

I glanced at the clock on the wall. It was almost time for breakfast

Taking one last steadying breath, I left my room and made my way toward the dining hall.

as I entered, I realized I was late. Everyone was already seated. Conversations filled the room; low murmurs mixed with the clinking of cutlery.

My eyes immediately went to my children, and relief washed over me when I saw them seated together. I walked over and took the empty seat beside them, offering them a small smile that they returned with bright, innocent grins,

Before I could even pick up my spoon, Vera’s voice sliced through the room.

Some people are always late, she said in a mockingly sweet tone. Breakfast, dinnerit’s like time doesn’t apply to them

I didn’t respond. I simply focused on my plate and began to eat pretending her words hadn’t reached my ears. My silence seemed to irritate her even more.

She turned her attention to Ethan almost immediately, her hand brushing his arm possessively. The full moon is approaching, she said excitedly. I’m so thrilled. Soon, I’ll finally get marked.

She beamed, her eyes shining with anticipation, then slowly turned her gaze toward me.

I looked up and met her stare, a slow, eerie smile curling on my lips. It wasn’t happiness she saw; it was something darker, something that made her shift uncomfortably in her seat.

She quickly looked away and continued talking, her voice growing louder as if to drown out the tension.

Breakfast ended in strained silence.

As Alpha Ethan pushed his chair back, clearly ready to leave, I stood up.

Ethan,I said. “I need to talk to you.”

He paused and looked at me, then nodded. Come with me to my study.

We were just about to leave when Vera suddenly stood up, panic flashing across her face.

Ethan, please be careful, she said, clutching his arm. Don’t stay alone with her. I don’t want her to hurt me the way she did before.

I turned to her slowly.

If I ever get the chance,” I said coldly, I will hurt you over and over again until you no longer exist on this earth.

The dining hall went dead silent.

Vera gasped and stepped back, her eyes filling with tears. She’s threatening me!she cried. I don’t want to die. Maybe it’s best if I leave you, Ethan.

Ethan frowned. Enough,he said firmly. Raven isn’t going to hurt you.”

He turned to me. Take back what

you

said.”
