And just four days ago, I was attacked by a rogue the same rogue told you I saw with Vera. You didn’t listen. So tell me, Ethan… who is the real monster here?”
He sighed. “Raven, it’s okay.““No,” I shouted, rage exploding from my chest. “It’s never okay! You chose a rogue who claims to be your mate over your actual mate. And it has to stop.”

“What did you just say, Reven?” I asked, my voice low and dangerous, as I stared at her like I hadn’t heard her clearly the first
time.
The words echoed in my head, refusing to make sense.
She didn’t flinch. Not even a little.
“I said yes,” she replied calmly, lifting her chin in quiet defiance. You heard me right. I am your true mate. Not Vera.”
For one single second, the world stopped.
The ticking clock on the wall faded. The air between us thickened. Even my breathing felt too loud in the suffocating silence that followed her words.
Then I laughed.
It wasn’t a soft laugh or an amused chuckle. It was sharp, loud, and hollow–bursting out of my chest like something cracked inside me. The sound bounced off the walls of my study, mocking both of us.
“Stop hallucinating, Raven,” I said, shaking my head as if that alone could erase what she had just said. “This isn’t funny.”
Her eyes darkened instantly, the calm in them replaced by something fierce and wounded.
“That,” she snapped, her voice cutting through the room, “is the fucking problem with you, Ethan. You never take anything seriously.”
My laughter died abruptly.
She stepped closer, and I noticed then that her hands were clenched tightly at her sides. Her voice trembled not with fear, but with anger that had clearly been festering for a long time.
“That’s why I refused to tell you from the very first day,” she continued. “From the moment I saw you at Alpha Derick’s father’s birthday.”
My heart skipped painfully in my chest.
That day.
I remembered it clearly how my gaze had lingered on her longer than it should have, how something about her presence had unsettled me in a way I couldn’t explain. I had brushed it off then, blamed it on exhaustion.
“What are you talking about?” I asked slowly, my voice far less steady than I wanted it to be.
“If I’m your mate,” I pressed, irritation creeping in as I tried to regain control, “then who is Vera?”
Raven didn’t hesitate. Not even for a heartbeat.
“Vera is impersonating your mate,” she said firmly. “She is not.”
I scoffed, anger flaring like a reflex. “I know how you feel,” I said, forcing my tone to sound calm, reasonable, even kind, though irritation clawed violently at my chest. “But you need to top lying to yourself and to me.”
“I’m not lying,” she replied, her voice deadly calm. “And if you choose not to believe me, that’s fine.”

Chapter 319
She stepped back, but her eyes never left mine. There was no desperation in them. No pleading. Only resolve.
“Go ahead,” she said. “Mark Vera. And when you do, see if your wolf comes alive.”
My chest tightened painfully at her words.
“And while you’re at it,” she added coldly, “remember what the seer said. If you don’t mark your true mate on the night of the full moon, you will lose your wolf forever.”
That did it.
Before I could respond, before I could even begin to process everything she had just thrown at me, she turned and walked out of my study, slamming the door behind her with finality.
Something inside me snapped.
I slammed my fist down on the table so hard that a loud crack split the air. The solid wood groaned beneath my strength, a jagged line forming across its surface. Proof that my control was slipping, just like everything else.
“What the hell is the meaning of all this?” I muttered, pacing the room.
Two women.
Two claims.
One mate bond.
It made no sense.
A werewolf could not have two true mates. It went against nature Against the laws of the Moon Goddess. Against everything we had been taught since birth.
And yet…
My wolf was silent.
I stopped pacing and closed my eyes, pushing inward, reaching for him like I had done countless times before.
Answer me, I demanded. Say something.
Nothing.
I tried again. Harder. Pleading this time.
Still nothing.
For the hundredth time, I was met with the same terrifying silence.
Frustration twisted violently in my gut. Without my wolf, I was blind. I couldn’t sense the bond. I couldn’t feel the pull that was supposed to guide me to my true mate. I was making decisions in the dark, and the cost of a mistake was unbearable.
Growling under my breath, I mind–linked a guard.
Bring the seer to me. Now. I need to speak with her immediately
Yes, Alpha, he replied instantly.
I severed the link and reached for the glass of whiskey on my desk, downing a long sip. The burn did nothing to calm me. Raven’s words clashed violently with everything I thought I knew, replaying over and over in my mind.

Chapter 319
Less than half an hour later, there was a knock at the door.
“Come in,” I said gruffly.
The door opened, and the seer walked in slowly, her presence heavy, her eyes sharp and knowing. She bowed slightly.
“You called for me, Alpha Ethan,” she said. “Is everything alright
A bitter laugh escaped me. “No,” I said bluntly. “Nothing is.”
She studied me closely as I continued.
“There are two women in my life,” I said. “And both of them are claiming to be
my mate.”
