Chapter 328
After about thirty minutes since Alpha Ethan had left my room, a soft knock sounded on my
door.
I straightened where I sat on the edge of the bed, my fingers nervously twisting the hem of my robe. “Come in,” I called.
The doorknob turned, and a maid stepped inside, her head slightly bowed in respect.
She closed the door gently behind her before lifting her gaze to meet mine.
“Good evening, my lady,” she greeted politely. “Alpha Ethan asked me to bring your dress and help you get ready.”
My heart skipped, confusion fluttering in my chest. Get ready? I hadn’t expected anything like that, not tonight.
“Oh,” I said after a brief pause, forcing a small smile. “Alright. Thank you.”
She moved closer, holding up a large garment bag made of cream silk. I could already tell whatever was inside wasn’t ordinary.
“If you don’t mind,” I added quickly, standing up, “I’d like to take my bath first.”
“Of course,” the maid replied immediately. “I’ll wait.”
I nodded and excused myself, heading into the bathroom. The moment I shut the door behind me, I released the breath I hadn’t realized I was holding.
Turning on the shower, I stepped under the warm spray as water cascaded down my skin, washing away the lingering tension from my shoulders. I rested my palms against the tiled wall, my thoughts spiraling despite my effort to calm them.
Where is Alpha Ethan taking me?
Why a ball?
Why now?
My wolf stirred within me, her presence gentle but insistent.
Because he is your mate, she whispered softly. And a Luna stands beside her Alpha at every important gathering.
I sighed, closing my eyes as the water continued to pour over me.
“Being mated to an Alpha isn’t as easy as people think,” I murmured under my breath.

There were expectations. Duties. Eyes always watching. And emotions, so many emotions that never seemed to quiet.
Once I was done bathing, I dried myself and stepped back into the room.
Sitting before the dressing mirror, I carefully creamed my body, my movements slow and absent–minded, and then slipped into my underwear.
The maid approached and unzipped the garment bag.
When she revealed the dress, my breath caught.
It was sea–blue deep and rich, like the heart of the ocean beneath moonlight. The fabric shimmered subtly, the bodice adorned with diamonds and crystals that caught the light with every movement. It was elegant, regal… breathtaking.
She helped me into it, adjusting the material as it hugged my curves perfectly, flowing down to my feet like liquid silk.
“It’s beautiful,” I whispered, still staring at my reflection.
The maid smiled proudly. “It was custom–made just for you, my lady.”
I blinked, speechless. “Custom–made… for me?”
“Yes.”
I didn’t know what to say. Words simply failed me.
She guided me back to the chair and began working on my hair, styling it into soft waves that framed my face gracefully. Afterward, she applied my makeup lightly and naturally, enhancing rather than hiding. It was subtle, elegant, and perfect for a ball.
When she finished, I finally asked, “How do I look?”
The maid stepped back, her eyes shining with admiration. “You look like the perfect Luna.”
Her words warmed something deep inside me. I smiled, genuinely this time.
Picking up my phone, I called Alpha Ethan.
“I’m done dressing,” I said softly when he answered.
“Good,” he replied. “Meet me outside at the parking lot of the pack house.”
“Alright.”
After ending the call, I glanced around my room one last time, making sure I hadn’t forgotten anything. Then I took a steadying breath and walked out.
The hallway was dimly lit, quiet, my heels echoing softly against the polished floor as I made my way outside.

When I reached the parking lot, Alpha Ethan was already there sitting in his wheelchair.
The moment his eyes landed on me, they widened in pure shock.
For a second, he simply stared.
My steps slowed as I approached him, suddenly feeling shy under his intense gaze.
“Reven…” he breathed.
When I reached him, he gently took my hand, lifting it to his lips and pressing a tender kiss against my knuckles.
“You’re beautiful,” he said sincerely. “Absolutely beautiful.”
Heat crept into my cheeks. “It’s because of you,” I replied softly. “You chose the dress.”
A smile curved his lips. “Get in the car. We’re late.”
I nodded and did as he said. Once inside, he instructed the driver, and soon we were on the move.
As the car rolled forward, curiosity gnawed at me again.
“So…” I began cautiously. “What is this ball about?”
He glanced at me briefly before looking ahead. “Relax. You’ll find out when we get there.”
That answer only deepened my confusion.
I turned to the window, watching the familiar scenery pass by. The drive was barely thirty minutes, and we never left pack territory.
Is the pack hosting the ball? I wondered.
I wanted to ask again, but after his earlier response, I decided against it.
When the car finally stopped, the driver stepped out to assist Alpha Ethan, carefully helping him down and positioning his wheelchair.
I followed behind as he wheeled himself toward the entrance.
The moment we entered the hall, I froze.
It was breathtaking.
Flowers lined every surface. Rose petals scattered across the floor. Soft lights glowed overhead, casting everything in a warm, romantic haze.
“This looks more like an engagement party than a ball,” I murmured without thinking.
Alpha Ethan said nothing.

We took our seats at a beautifully set table. Wine was opened, and food was served.
“Do you want anything?” he asked gently.
“No,” I replied, shaking my head.
“If you need anything, tell me,” he said before wheeling himself away.

Left alone, I picked up my phone, using it as a distraction while my heart continued to pound for reasons I couldn’t explain.
About twenty minutes later, Alpha Ethan returned.
At that exact moment, the MC climbed onto the stage and picked up the microphone.
“Ladies and gentlemen,” the MC announced. “This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for.”
The lights suddenly went off.
Dim red lights flickered on, bathing the hall in a soft glow.
My pulse raced.
What’s happening?
Then I saw Alpha Ethan.
He wheeled forward… and slowly, carefully, lowered himself from his chair.
Gasps echoed through the hall.
