I did not wait. The moment the Rough King’s men left and the fire began to grow, I ran toward the warehouse.

The heat was strong, but I did not care. All I could think about was Raven.

She was inside.

I pushed open the broken door and ran in. Thick smoke filled the air and wrapped around me like a dark wall. I could barely see in front of me. My eyes burned, and my lungs hurt with every breath I took as the smoke forced its way inside my chest.

Raven!I shouted. Raven!

Fire was everywhere. The walls were burning, and the ceiling groaned loudly above my head. Wood cracked and snapped, and pieces fell to the ground around me. Sparks flew through the air like angry insects.

I ran deeper into the warehouse, calling her name again and again. My heart was beating so fast that I thought it would burst out of my chest. Fear clawed at me, but I refused to listen to it.

Then flames rushed toward me from the left side.

I raised my arm to block my face, but it was too late. Pain exploded through my left arm as the fire touched my skin. I screamed as the burning heat spread, sharp and cruel, making my whole body shake.

Even when I moved away, my arm still felt like it was on fire. The smell of burned flesh filled the air, thick, and sickening.

But I did not stop.

Raven!I shouted again, my voice breaking as tears mixed with the smoke on my face.

I searched everywhere I could, but the smoke became thicker with every step. My head started to spin, and my legs felt weak beneath me. My vision blurred, and my chest burned with every breath I took.

I fell to my knees.

I could not find her.

The fire grew stronger, crawling up the walls and across the floor. I had no safety tools, no helmet, no protection. I knew that if I stayed any longer, I would die too, but the thought of leaving her behind was worse than death.

With the little strength I had left, I crawled back outside and gasped for breath.

lapsed on the cold ground. The air hit my lungs hard, and I

My left arm was badly burned, the pain sharp and deep, but it felt small compared to the pain tearing my heart apart.

That was when I heard cars stop.

Matthew and the warriors arrived, their boots hitting the ground as they ran toward me. Matthew reached me first, and the moment he saw my burned arm, his face changed from fear to anger.

“Ethan!he shouted. What did you

I could not answer. My head felt heavy, and my chest hurt like someone was stabbing me again and again. Matthew grabbed my shoulders, forcing me to look at him..

Why didn’t you call me like we agreed?he demanded. Why is the warehouse on fire?

I looked at him, my vision still blurred. The Rough King,” I said in a broken voice.

Matthew froze. The Rough King?he asked slowly. The one whose pack we destroyed five years ago?

I nodded weakly. He came back for revenge,I said. He locked Raven inside the warehouse. He poured fuel everywhere and set it on fire.

Matthew’s eyes widened in shock. What?

He looked at my arm again, then back at the burning warehouse. Are you insane?he shouted. You went inside without safety tools? Without a helmet? You could have died!

I didn’t care,I whispered. She was inside.”

Matthew clenched his fists, anger, and fear fighting in his eyes. He turned sharply to the warriors and shouted, Put on fire helmets now! Go inside and check! Search everywhere!

The warriors nodded and rushed to get their gear. Without wasting time, they ran into the burning warehouse as flames leaped around them and thick smoke poured out like a dark cloud.

I sat on the cold ground, not knowing what to do. The fire had gone down a little, but the heat was still strong.

Smoke filled the air, making my eyes burn and my chest ache. My knees felt weak, and my whole body felt empty, as if something precious had been ripped out of me.

If he wanted revenge,I whispered, my voice shaking, he should have taken it on me. I was the one who burned his pack. Not Raven. She had nothing to do with it.”

Matthew knelt beside me, his voice softer now. Calm down, Ethan. They might find her. Don’t lose hope yet.

Minutes passed.

Every second felt like an hour.

I watched the fire closely, praying silently. I begged the Moon Goddess. I begged anyone who could hear me to save my mate. My wolf cried inside me, restless and afraid, and the bond between us felt weaktoo weak.

After about thirty minutes, the warriors came back out.

Their faces said everything.

Did you see anyone?I asked, my voice shaking as fear wrapped around my heart.

One of them shook his head slowly. No, Alpha. There is no one inside./

Another warrior spoke quietly, his voice full of dread. The building is almost burned down. If anyone was inside…. they wouldn’t survive.

The words hit me like a heavy blow, knocking the air from my lungs. Matthew helped me stand, holding my arm carefully.

Ethan, let’s go home,he said gently. We’ll think of something.”

I laughed bitterly. Think of what?I asked. Raven is gone. It’s my fault.

I know how you feel,Matthew said, pain filling his eyes. But crying here won’t change the truth.

Stop it!I shouted, pushing him away. Raven is not gone. She’s still with me.

Just then the last wall of the warehouse collapsed.

The building became nothing but ashes.

That was when my strength finally left me.

Matthew drove me home, and the ride was silent. When we reached the pack house, he parked and turned to me, once again landing on my burned arm, which was red and blistering.

Wait here,” he said firmly. I’m calling someone to take care of that burn.”

Don’t stress yourself,” I replied tiredly. I’m fine.

You’re not fine,Matthew said sharply. That burn is serious.”

I said I’m fine,I repeated, my voice empty.

his eyes

Before he could argue, I stepped out of the car and walked into the pack house without looking back. Every step felt heavy, but I did not stop. The room felt empty, too empty, and her scent was already fading.

I went straight to the mini bar and took out bottle after bottle, drinking straight from them. The liquid burned my throat, but I welcomed the pain.

Anytime I find peace,I muttered, it always slips away.

Tomorrow, the children would ask where their mother was. How would I tell them she was gone? That I was the reason?

I drank until the room spun, until everything went dark.

Raven, my love,I whispered.

I saw her standing far away, smiling the way she always did. My heart leaped with hope as I stepped closer.

You came back,I said. You’re not dead?

She nodded and smiled. The kids haven’t been doing fine without me,I told her.

That’s why I’m back,” she said softly as she ran toward me.

I ran to her too.

Just as I reached out to hold her, she vanished.

Raven.” I screamed.

I woke up shaking, my heart pounding hard. I stared around the room, my chest rising and falling fast.

The room was empty.

She was not there.
