Chapter 337
Reven’s POV
Guards!” the Alpha King shouted.
The heavy door burst open immediately, crashing against the stone wall as two guards strode in.
Their faces were rough, carved from cruelty and obedience, their eyes empty of mercy.
“Take her to the punishment ground,” the Alpha ordered coldly. “She will be flogged.”
My head snapped up.
I stared at him.
Not with fear.
With hatred so deep, it burned.

“You can punish me all you want,” I said hoarsely, my voice shaking but unbroken. “Break my body, tear my skin apart it won’t change anything.
I will escape this place. And when I do, I will come back for you.”
The room fell silent.
Then he laughed.
A slow, amused sound that sent chills crawling down my spine.
“Even in your weakest state,” he said, stepping closer, “you still have the courage to challenge me. Interesting.”
The guards grabbed my arms before I could react, their grip iron–tight as they dragged me out of the room.
My feet scraped against the stone floor as we moved through the same hallway we had passed earlier, the long, endless corridor that smelled of blood, despair, and old screams.
As they pulled me forward, I cursed the rough King in my heart.
I will not rest, I swore silently, until I leave this place. And when I do, I will destroy him.
The guards stopped before a thick iron door deep within the dungeon.
One of them unlocked it.
They threw me inside.
The door slammed shut behind me.
Then the lights came on.
My breath caught in my throat.
The room was a nightmare.
Punishment instruments lined the walls: whips stained dark with old blood, chains, hooks, hot iron rods resting over burning coals, and sharp tools whose purpose I didn’t even want to imagine.

Chapter 337
The air smelled of inetal, fire, and pain.
Before I could move, the guards seized me again and slammed me onto a wooden table. Cold cuffs snapped around my wrists, locking my hands above my head. My body was completely restrained.
One of the guards rolled over a strange device with metal wires attached to a box that hummed ominously.
“I don’t know what that is,” I whispered, panic rising, “but”
They didn’t answer.
They pressed it against my body.
The moment it was switched on, my entire body convulsed violently.
Agony exploded inside me.
It felt as if lightning was ripping through my veins, as if thousands of blades were tearing me apart from the inside.
My back arched, my muscles spasmed uncontrollably, and a scream tore from my throat.
“Quiet!” one of the guards barked, striking my back with a whip.
The pain doubled.
I screamed again.
I couldn’t stop.
It was too much.
“Please,” I cried, tears streaming down my face. “Please… I can’t take it anymore.”
The electricity surged again, burning through me, crushing my lungs until I could barely breathe.
And then one thought crossed my mind.
What if I die here?
The pain blurred my vision, but strangely… I smiled.
If I die, I thought, I’ll see Alpha Ethan again. I’ll see my children.
The thought gave me strength.
I endured it.
I screamed, shook, and broke, but I didn’t beg anymore.
Finally, I heard his voice.
“Release her.”
The device was switched off. My body collapsed against the table, trembling violently, breath coming out in broken gasps.
I laughed weakly.
Then anger surged through me.

“I didn’t tell you to release me!” I snapped, lifting my head to glare at him. “You should have left me to die. At least then I would have gone to my mate and my children in the afterlife.”
The Rough King smiled.
A cruel, satisfied smile.
“That won’t happen,” he said calmly. “If you die now, who would I take my punishment out on? You’re not dying, not until I’ve punished you to my satisfaction.”
My blood ran cold.
“Take her to the maid quarters,” he ordered the guards. “Introduce her to the Head of Maids. She will serve as my personal maid.”
My head snapped up.
“No!” I shouted. “Never! I would rather die than be your maid!”
He stepped closer.
Too close.
His hand reached out, gripping my chin, forcing my face up. His hot breath brushed against my skin, making my stomach churn.
“There’s one thing I love about you,” he said softly. “Your courage.”
I spat at his feet.
He only smiled wider.
“You will be my maid,” he said. “And there is nothing you can do about it. Do not ever think of escaping. If I catch you, the punishment will be a hundred times worse than this.”
Then he turned and walked away.
The guards dragged me down the corridor long after the hough King disappeared from sight.
Every step sent pain screaming through my body. My muscles still twitched uncontrollably, remnants of the electricity dancing beneath my skin.
My wrists burned where the cuffs had been removed, and my back felt raw, as though my flesh had been peeled open and stitched back together with fire.
But I did not cry.
I refused to give them that satisfaction.
The dungeon walls slowly gave way to cleaner stone, the air changing as we moved farther from the punishment chambers. The scent of blood and smoke faded, replaced by soap, starch, and something faintly floral. It felt wrong, this sudden cleanliness after so much pain.
We stopped before a wooden door.
One of the guards knocked once, sharply, before pushing it open.
“Head Maid,” he announced gruffly. “The King’s new personal maid.”

Chapter 337
They shoved me forward.
I stumbled inside.
The door closed behind me with a dull thud.
The woman standing before me was elderly, her back slightly bent with age, her gray hair neatly tied into a tight bun at the nape of her neck. Her clothes were simple but clean, her posture disciplined, and her eyes sharp despite the years etched into her face.
The moment her gaze landed on me, something flickered within them.
Pity.
Real, unmistakable pity.
It almost broke me.
“Child…” she murmured softly, taking a step closer. Her nose wrinkled slightly before she masked it with composure. “You need a bath.”
I said nothing.
My throat was too tight, my pride too fragile.
“You stink of blood, smoke, and pain,” she continued gently, not unkindly. “Come. Before anything else, you will wash.”
She turned and gestured toward a door at the side of the room.
The guards released me and left without another word.
I stood there for a moment, swaying slightly on my feet.
The head maid watched me carefully, as though afraid I might collapse at any second.
“You can lean on the wall if you need to,” she said quietly. “No one will hurt you here. Not without orders.”
That last part reminded me exactly where I was.
I forced my legs to move.
The bathing chamber was small but warm. Steam clung to the air, and a large tub sat in the center, already filled with water. Clean towels were folded neatly on a stool, and a bar of soap rested beside them.
“Take your time,” the woman said, standing at the doorway. “When you are done, call out.”
She left me alone.
The moment the door closed, my strength gave out.
I sank to my knees beside the tub, gripping the edge as silent sobs tore through my chest. I bit down hard on my lip, tasting blood, refusing to let a sound escape.
I stripped slowly, every movement a reminder of what had been done to me. My body was covered in bruises, red marks, and burns proof of the Rough King’s cruelty.
I stepped into the water.
The pain was instant.

Chapter 337
The warm water stung my wounds, drawing a sharp gasp from my throat. I clenched my fists, lowering myself inch by inch until I was submerged.
I scrubbed myself until my skin burned.
Not just to clean the filth from my body but to wash away his touch, his presence, his power over me.
When I finally emerged, trembling and exhausted, I wrapped myself in a towel and called out weakly.
The head maid returned immediately.
She did not comment on my injuries.
She simply handed me a neatly folded uniform of plain, dark fabric, freshly ironed, smelling faintly of soap.
“Put this on,” she said. “Then eat.”
She guided me to a small table where a plate of food waited: bread, stew, and a cup of water.
I stared at it.
I hadn’t realized how hungry I was until that moment.
“Eat,” she urged softly. “You will need your strength.”
I ate slowly, mechanically, barely tasting the food as it settled in my stomach. My hands shook with every movement, but I forced myself to finish.
When I was done, the head maid placed a piece of parchment in front of me.
“Those are the rules,” she said. “Read them carefully.”
Her eyes softened again.
“Once you serve the Rough King directly,” she added quietly, “there is
Then she left me alone.
I unfolded the parchment.
My heart sank with every line.

I clenched the paper until it crumpled in my hands.
Absolute obedience.
Punishment at will.
So this was my new cage.

I leaned back against the bed, staring at the ceiling as exhaustion weighed heavily on me. My body ached, my soul felt bruised beyond repair, but my mind was sharp.
Sharper than ever.
If I am his maid, I thought, I will be invisible.
I will be close enough to learn his habits.
His weaknesses.
His routines.
The way he eats.
The way he drinks.
The way he sleeps.
An image formed in my mind of poison slipping into his cup, a blade pressed against his throat, his life draining away as he realized too late who he had underestimated.
A slow, dark smile curved my lips.
The Rough King thinks he owns me, I thought.
But he has just given me the perfect opportunity to kill him.
I folded the parchment neatly and placed it beside me.
“Fine,” I whispered into the empty room. “I’ll be your maide
