Reven’s POV

I stepped onto the stage as the lights in the hall shifted, dimming into something darker and richer like the inside of a predator’s den.

The warm glow that once filled the room drained away, replaced by shadows that clung to the corners and crept along the walls.

Conversations faded into murmurs, laughter dying midbreath, until only a thick, expectant silence remained.

It pressed against my chest, heavy and suffocating, making each breath feel deliberate.

My fingers curled tightly around the pole. Cold. Smooth. Real. It grounded me in a way nothing else had since I’d been dragged into this place. If I let go of it, of myself, I wasn’t sure I’d find my footing again.

My heart thundered in my ears, loud enough that I wondered if the Alphas below could hear it.

I had never done this before.

Not like this.

Not under so many eyes that carried power, cruelty, and hunger all at once.

Breathe, my wolf whispered, her voice steady despite the fear curling in my gut. You already have them. Don’t waste it.

Music spilled into the hall, slow, deep, almost hypnotic. The rhythm slipped beneath my skin, winding through my veins like a command I couldn’t ignore.

I closed my eyes for a brief moment and let my body move without thought, without fear. My hips swayed, instinctive and fluid, as though my body remembered something my mind had buried long ago.

I moved because stopping would mean thinking.

And thinking would break me.

I circled the pole slowly, fingers gliding along the cool metal as I spun. My hair fell forward, shielding my face, before I snapped my head back and let it cascade down my spine. The motion earned a sharp intake of breath from somewhere in the crowd.

Then another.

Gasps rippled through the hall like a wave breaking against stone.

I opened my eyes.

Alphas leaned forward in their seats, powerful bodies tense, eyes glowing with hunger and interest.

Their gazes burned into my skin, stripping and weighing and judging, but for the first time since I’d been brought here, it didn’t feel like I was prey waiting to be torn apart.

It felt like I was holding the leash.

Confidence bloomed in my chest slow, dangerous, intoxicating. It surprised me with its intensity, with how quickly fear gave way to control.

Yes, my wolf purred. Don’t stop now.

I flowed into another movement, slower this time. Controlled. Each step deliberate, each pause calculated. I was dancing only to please them; I was dancing to command them.
