Chapter 347
Alpha Ethan’s POV
I woke up to the constant ringing of my phone.

The sound drilled into my skull, sharp and unforgiving, dragging me out of a sleep that hard never truly been peaceful to begin with. I groaned, turning my face into the pillow as if that could silence it. It didn’t
The ringing persisted, relentless, like the universe itself refusing to give me even a moment’s mercy
With a frustrated growl. I reached for the phone on the bedside table and pressed it to my ear
“Hello, I muttered.
“Ethan.” Matthew’s voice came through the line, annoyingly alert. “Why do you choose to call this early?”
I scoffed softly. “Early?” I repeated, my voice cold, empty. “Do you have any idea what time it is?”
“It’s
past ten a.m.,” he replied. “And you have a meeting with the council today. You’ve been postponing it for too long now.”
Silence stretched between us.
I stared at the ceiling, my eyes unfocused. Ten a.m. Another day wasted in bed. Another morning where getting up felt like climbing out of a grave.
Since Reven’s death, mornings had become my enemy. Waking up meant remembering. And remembering meant pain.
“Was that part necessary?” I finally asked, my tone flat.
There was a pause on the other end. Matthew exhaled. “I wouldn’t be calling if it wasn’t,”
I ended the call without another word and dropped the phone on the table beside me. The sound echoed loudly in the room, far louder than it should have been. Or maybe everything just felt louder now that she
was gone
Attending council meetings had been hell since Raven died
Everything had been hell
I swung my legs off the bed and sat there for a long moment shoulders slumped, hands dangling uselessly between my knees. The room felt too big. Too empty. Her scent was gone now–completely faded, no matter how much I hated to admit it. I had hoped it would linger forever. That some part of her would refuse to leave me.
But even the room had moved on.
“This one,” I muttered to myself, “this one I have to attend…. or the council will come for me.”

My throat burned. “If I ever get the chance to make a wish,” I murmured, my voice barely audible over the water, “I’d wish to come and join you wherever you are.”
A single tear slipped down my cheek, lost among the water.
When I stepped out of the bathroom, the house was silent. Too silent. Mornings had become my personal torture. Vvery day for the past week followed the same pattern–crying behind closed doors, then forcing a smile once I stepped outside.
