Chapter 359
Chapter 359
Alpha Ethan’s POV
The drive back home felt longer than it ever had before.
Not because the distance had changed but because everything inside me had.

The gates of my pack territory loomed ahead, tall iron bars engraved with the sigil of my bloodline. They slowly opened as my car approached, guards bowing their heads in respect. I barely noticed them.
My grip tightened on the steering wheel, knuckles whitening as the words from earlier replayed in my mind over and over again.
She’s alive.
That single sentence had refused to leave me.
I parked sharply in front of the pack house and stepped out, the cold night air biting into my skin. The massive building stood quiet, lights glowing softly behind tall windows. From the outside, everything looked normal. Peaceful.
But I knew better.
Nothing was peaceful anymore, not while Raven was missing.
Not while Thor, the Rough King, was breathing.
I strode inside, my boots echoing against the marble floors. Servants scattered out of my way instinctively. They could feel it -the storm rolling off me, thick and violent. My wolf paced restlessly beneath my skin, growling, demanding blood, demanding answers.
“Alpha Ethan.”
Matthew’s voice reached me before I reached him.
He stood near the staircase, arms crossed, sharp eyes studying my face. My Beta. My second–in–command. The only one who dared look me in the eye when I looked like this.
“You’re back earlier than expected,” he said carefully.
I didn’t slow down. “We need to talk.”
That alone told him everything.
Matthew followed me into my study, closing the heavy doors behind us. The room smelled faintly of leather and old books. My sanctuary. Or at least it used to be.
I paced instead of sitting, running a hand through my hair, jaw clenched so tightly it ached.
“She’s alive,” I said finally.
Matthew stiffened. “Raven?”
“Yes.”
He didn’t speak right away. He never did when things were serious. He waited, observed, and processed. That was why he was my Beta.

“You’re certain?” he asked slowly.

“I met one of the rough kings men today,” I said, my voice low and sharp. “He slipped. Thought I wouldn’t notice, But I did.”
Matthew frowned. “That could have been intentional,”
I stopped pacing and turned to him sharply. “What?”
“What if it was a trap?” he continued. “What if they want you to believe she’s alive so you’ll walk straight into their territory?”
I scoffed. “No.”
Matthew’s brows knit together. “Ethan-”
“It’s not a trap,” I snapped. “I know it isn’t.”
“And how exactly do you know that?”
Because I felt her.
Because the bond was damaged, stretched, bleeding was still there.
But I didn’t say that.
“She’s with the rough king,” I said instead. “I’m sure of it.”
Matthew exhaled slowly. “Thor is dangerous. You know that. The Rough King doesn’t play games unless he stands to gain something.”
“He already has something,” I growled. “He has my mate.”
That word tasted bitter on my tongue.
Matthew’s eyes darkened. “Then we need proof.”
“You’ll get it,” I said. “I’m calling him.”
Matthew hesitated. “Now?”
“Yes. Now.”
He studied me for a long moment, then nodded. “Alright. But if this turns ugly“.
“There will be no problem,” I cut in. “I’ll handle it.”
Matthew didn’t look convinced, but he stepped back. “I’ll be nearby.”
I left the study without another word and headed straight for my room.
The moment the door closed behind me, the mask cracked.
I stood there, staring at nothing, chest rising and falling too fast. Memories flooded in uninvited: Reven’s eyes filled with defiance, her lips trembling when she tried not to cry, and the way she looked at me like I was both her savior and her
executioner.
She better be alive.
I crossed the room and opened the hidden compartment beneath the desk. Inside lay my second phone, the one no one knew about.

The one I used only when things crossed the line between politics and war.
My fingers hovered over the screen for a second before I dialed the number burned into my memory.
It rang.
Once.

Twice.
Three times.
No answer.
My jaw tightened.
I ended the call and immediately dialed again.
This time, it rang longer.
Then
“Alpha Ethan,” a voice finally drawled from the other line, smooth and mocking. “What do I owe this pleasure?”
My blood boiled instantly.
“Stop playing dumb with me, Thor,” I said coldly. “I know Raven is with you.”
Silence.
Not the kind filled with static, but the kind filled with calculation.
Seconds stretched.
Then Thor chuckled softly. “You sound desperate.”
“She’s my mate,” I snarled. “Where is she?”
Another pause.
Longer this time.
When he spoke again, his tone had shifted–lower, almost… solemn.
“I know you’re grieving your mate,” Thor said. “But Raven isn’t with me.”
I clenched the phone harder. “Don’t lie to me.”
“She’s dead,” he continued calmly. “Burned alive in the fire. You should know that fact.”
Something inside me snapped.
“No,” I said flatly. “She isn’t.”
Thor sighed, almost bored. “Denial won’t bring her back.”
“You think this is a game?” I growled. “One of your men met me today. He told me for a fact that Raven is alive.”
A sharp inhale came from the other end of the line.

Just for a second.
But I caught it.

“So stop lying.” I continued. “Bring back my mate. Unless you want war.”
Thor laughed, then a deep, unrestrained sound that crawled under my skin.
“War?” he echoed. “You think I fear you?”
“I think you’ll regret crossing me,” I said.
“I’m ready for anything,” Thor replied calmly. “Bring it on.”
The line went dead.
I stared at the phone in my hand, breathing hard.
“You bastard,” I muttered.
I turned, rage exploding through me, and hurled the phone across the room. It smashed against the wall, pieces scattering across the floor.
My wolf roared inside me, clawing, demanding release.
“I will take everything from you,” I said aloud, my voice shaking with anger. “Just like you took her.”
I paced the room, fists clenched, every muscle coiled tight.
“Wait,” I whispered darkly. “Just wait.”
Because this wasn’t over.
Not even close.
