Chapter 379
Reven’s POV
My heart stopped.
Not slowed. Not skipped.
Stopped.
The world around me seemed to tilt, sounds fading into a distant, muffled hum as if I had been plunged underwater. The warmth of the sun vanished, replaced by a sudden, bone–deep chill that wrapped around my spine and squeezed.
Reven.
That name did not belong to this life.
That name belonged to something buried.
Something dangerous.
Something lost.
Slowly–far too slowly–I turned around.
A man stood a few feet away from me.
Tall. Broad–shouldered. Dressed in black from head to toe, the fabric clung to him in a way that suggested muscle beneath. His dark hair fell slightly over his forehead, framing a face that was… not handsome in a soft way, but striking. Severe. Sharp- edged. The kind of face that looked carved from stone rather than shaped by nature.
But it wasn’t his appearance that made my pulse explode into frantic motion.
It was his eyes.
They were fixed on me with an intensity that made my skin prickle, dark irises almost swallowing the whites, burning with something I couldn’t name.”
Relief.
Shock.
Anger.
Hunger.
All tangled together.
“You’re alive,” he said hoarsely.
The sound of his voice hit me like a physical blow.
Something deep inside my chest twisted violently, a sensation so sharp it forced the air from my lungs. My knees weakened. and I had to lock them to keep from collapsing right there on the sidewalk.

Pain flickered across his face, so raw and sudden that it startled me. For a fraction of a second, the colt dangerous cum vanished, replaced by someone wounded and desperate
“Don’t,” he said quietly. “Don’t do that.”
My stomach dropped.
“Do what?
“Pretend you don’t know me.”
“I’m not pretending.” I whispered, panic clawing up my throat. “I don’t know you.”
Silence fell between us.
Heavy
Unbelievable.
He searched my face like he was looking for something hadden beneath my skin, something that would prave I was lying
He closed the distance between us in two long strides before I could react
His hand shot on and clamped around my wrist

Chapter 379
“Why are you doing this?” he demanded, his voice rough with emotion. “Why are you pretending not to know me?”
“I’m not pretending!” My voice cracked. “You’re hurting me!”
“Don’t you love me anymore, Reven?” he said, his voice breaking on my name. “Just tell me. If you don’t love me anymore… I’ll leave. I swear I will. Me and the kids–we’ll leave you alone. Just say it.”
Kids?
My stomach lurched violently.
“I DON’T KNOW YOU!” I cried, panic exploding through my chest. “Let me go! You’re insane!”
Something dark flashed across his face not anger at first, but devastation so deep it looked almost feral.
“No,” he whispered hoarsely. “No, you don’t get to erase me. You don’t get to erase us.”
His grip tightened again.
Stars burst behind my eyes.
“LET ME GO!”
I tried to pry his fingers off with my free hand, twisting, pushing, scratching anything to make him release me.
Nothing worked.
It was like trying to move a steel clamp.
People were starting to stare now. A couple walking past slowed. A man nearby frowned, clearly noticing the struggle.
“Please,” I choked, tears blurring my vision. “You’re hurting me… please let go….”
But he looked like he wasn’t even hearing me anymore.
His eyes had gone wild.
“Look at me,” he demanded. “Look at me and tell me you don’t remember holding our children. Tell me remember our home. Tell me you don’t remember me loving you!”
“I DON’T!” I screamed.
My voice cracked loudly enough to echo off the buildings.
That did it.
Two men who had been walking down the sidewalk rushed toward us.
“Hey!” one of them shouted. “Leave her alone!”
The man holding me barely reacted.
“Mind your business,” he growled without even looking at them.
Wrong answer.
you don’t

The taller of the two didn’t hesitate. He grabbed the man’s shoulder and yanked hard.
“Let her go!”
In that split second of distraction, the grip on my wrist loosened just enough.
I wrenched backward with everything I had.
His fingers slipped free.
Pain flared where he’d been holding me, but I didn’t care. I stumbled away, clutching my arm, gasping for breath.
Then the punch landed.
A sickening crack echoed through the air as the stranger’s head snapped to the side.
For a heartbeat, everything froze.
Then chaos exploded.
The man lunged at them with terrifying speed, tackling the one who hit him. They crashed into the pavement, fists flying, grunts and shouts filling the street. The second man jumped in, trying to pull them apart, only to get dragged into the fight as well.
It wasn’t a normal scuffle.
It was savage.
Desperate.
Like their lives depended on it.
I stood there for half a second, stunned… then survival instincts took over.
Run.
I turned and ran.
My legs felt weak, unsteady, but adrenaline forced them to move. I didn’t look back. I didn’t stop. I didn’t care where I was going.
Just away.
Away from him.
Away from those eyes.
Away from that name.
A taxi was slowing near the curb.
I practically threw myself in front of it, waving frantically.
“Stop! Please.”
The driver braked hard, startled, and I yanked the door open before the car had fully stopped.

“Please–just go.” I gasped, sliding into the back seat. “Anywhere–no, wait–here-“I rattled off Edna’s address, my voice shaking uncontrollably,
The driver glanced at me in the rearview mirror, concern etched across his face.
“Madam, are you okay?”
I tried to answer.
Nothing came out.
My mouth opened, but no sound formed.
Because his words kept echoing in my skull.
Why are you pretending not to know me?
Don’t you love me anymore, Reven?
Me and the kids will leave you alone.
Kids.
The word made my stomach twist violently.
My head began to throb, a deep, pulsing ache spreading from my temples inward. I pressed both hands to my skull as if I could hold it together.
“Madam?” the driver asked again.
His voice sounded far away.
Distant.
Muffled.
Like I was sinking underwater.
Why are you pretending…
Why are you pretending…
Why are you pretending…
“I’m not pretending,” I whispered hoarsely, though no one had asked.
The driver said something else, but the words dissolved into noise.
My vision blurred.
Not from tears.
From dizziness.
Buildings outside the window smeared into streaks of color. My stomach churned violently, nausea rising in waves.

Think. Remember. Anything.
Please.
1 squeezed my eyes shut, forcing my mind to search.
Nothing.
No faces.
No home.
No children.
No, man.
Just emptiness.
The pain in my head spiked, sharp and blinding, but I welcomed it.
Maybe pain would break something open.
Maybe pain would bring something back.
“Remember,” I whispered desperately. “Remember something anything”
But there was only darkness.
By the time the taxi slowed, my entire body was trembling uncontrollably.
