Chapter 380
Reven’s POV
Voices dragged me back before light did.
Not gentle voices. Not soothing ones.
Urgent
Panicked.
Far away… yet too close at the same time,
“Reven can you hear me?”
“…she’s burning up”
“Should we call”
“No hospitals,” Edna’s voice cut through sharply. “Not yet.”
Something cool pressed against my forehead.
I tried to move away from it, but my body refused to cooperate. My limbs felt heavy, like they belonged to someone else. My tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth, dry and useless.
“…she collapsed… I don’t know what happened…” Edna whispered, her voice trembling now. “She was fine this morning…”
Morning?
How long had I been out?
A low groan escaped me before I could stop it.
Instant silence fell over the room.
Then-
“She’s waking up.”
The words came from a voice I didn’t recognize.
Male.
Deep.
Not the driver. Not anyone from the hospital. Not someone who should be here.
My eyelids fluttered, heavy as stone. It took several tries before they finally lifted.
The world came back in fragments.
A ceiling I recognized.

Chapter 380
The faint scent of Edna’s lavender detergent.
The dim glow of a bedside lamp.
And three blurred shapes hovering over me.
My vision sharpened slowly.
Edna was there, kneeling beside the couch, her eyes red–rimmed and swollen like she had been crying. Relief flooded her face the moment our gazes met.
“Oh, thank God,” she breathed. “Reven, you scared me half to death.”
I tried to speak.
Nothing came out except a rasp.
She immediately grabbed a glass of water and helped me sit up, one arm supporting my shoulders. The movement made the room spin violently, nausea surging through me.
“Easy, easy,” she murmured. “You fainted.”
Fainted.
The word triggered a cascade of memories.
The street.
The man.
His grip on my wrist.
His voice breaking on my name.
Don’t you love me anymore, Reven?
My entire body tensed.
“Where is he?” I whispered hoarsely, the words scraping painfully out of my throat.
Edna frowned. “Who?”
“The man,” I said, panic rising. “At the mall… he grabbed me-”
“You’re safe,” she interrupted quickly. “You’re at home.”
Safe.
The word should have comforted me.
It didn’t.
Because the third person in the room stepped forward.
And my breath caught.

Chapter 380
He was tall, nearly as tall as the man from the street, but where that stranger had been all sharp edges and raw emotion, this one was controlled. Composed. Watching me with unsettling calm.
Dark hair. Dark eyes. Dark clothing.
A doctor?
No.
Something about him didn’t feel medical.
He studied me like a puzzle.
“Your pulse spiked,” he said quietly. “You remember something.”
It wasn’t a question.
I stiffened. “Who are you?”
Edna hesitated.
Too long.
“Reven… this is-”
“My name is Adrian,” the man said smoothly. “A friend of Edna’s.”
Friend.
The word felt wrong in my bones.
His gaze didn’t soften. It didn’t warm. It remained sharp, assessing, almost predatory.
“You collapsed from neurological overload,” he continued. “Most likely triggered by emotional stress.”
My fingers curled into the couch cushion.
“I saw someone,” I whispered. “He… he knew me.”
Adrian didn’t react.
Not even a flicker.
“What did he say?” he asked.
The question was too direct. Too interested.
Edna shot him a warning look. “Adrian”
“It’s important,” he said calmly. “If her memory loss is trauma–related, external triggers could accelerate recovery. Or destabilize her further.”
Recovery.
The word made my heart twist painfully.

“I don’t want to remember him,” I said quietly.
Silence fell.
Adrian tilted his head slightly, studying me as if I had just said something deeply fascinating.
“Why?” he asked.
Because of the way he looked at me.
Because my body knew him.
Because something inside me wanted to run toward him… and that terrified me more than anything.
“Because he said we have children,” I whispered.
Edna inhaled sharply.
Adrian’s eyes darkened.
“And you don’t remember them,” he said.
It wasn’t a question either.
I shook my head slowly, my throat tightening
Nothing.
No faces.
No laughter.
No tiny hands.
Just emptiness.
A hollow space where something enormous should have been
“I don’t even know if I want to know,” I admitted, my voice cracking
Edna’s hand found mine, squeezing tightly.
“Oh, Reven…”
Adrian didn’t move closer.
He didn’t comfort
He simply watched.
“Did he hurt you?” he asked.
My wrist throbbed in answer.
Ified it slightly. Purple bruises were already blooming where his fingers had been, stark against my skin.

Edna gasped. “Oh my God…”
Adrian’s jaw tightened.
Not with sympathy.
With anger.
But not directed at me.
“At least we know he’s real,” he murmured under his breath.
My stomach dropped.
“What does that mean?” I demanded.
He met my gaze directly for the first time.
It felt like being pinned in place.
“Reven,” he said carefully, “before today, you never mentioned anyone looking for you.”
“Because no one was,” I snapped weakly. “I don’t even know who I am.”
“Yes,” he said softly. “And that is precisely why this is concerning.”
A chill crept up my spine.
“What aren’t you telling me?”
Edna looked torn.
Adrian didn’t hesitate.
Esovalcers
“People don’t just lose their memory and vanish without someone searching,” he said. “Especially not someone who supposedly has children.”
The room felt suddenly colder.
“What are you saying?” I whispered.
“That either this man is lying,” Adrian said evenly, “or you’ve been missing long enough that whoever you belonged to has stopped looking.”
Belonged.
The word made my skin crawl.
“I’m not property,” I said sharply.
His gaze flickered – approval? Interest? Something unreadable.
“No,” he agreed quietly. “You’re not.”
Edna squeezed my hand again. “Reven, listen to me. You don’t have to figure everything out tonight. You need rest.”

Chapter 380
Rest.
My body ached with exhaustion, but my mind was racing too fast to obey.
“What if he comes here?” I asked suddenly.
Edna froze.
Adrian didn’t.
“He won’t,” he said calmly.
“How do you know?”
Something dangerous glinted in his eyes.
“Because I won’t allow it.”
The certainty in his voice should have reassured me.
Instead, it made my stomach knot.
Who was this man?
And why did he sound like he had authority over something far bigger than a simple apartment building?
“I think she should sleep,” Edna said softly. “We can talk in the morning.”
Adrian studied me one last time.
Long.
Intense.
As if memorizing my face.
“Very well,” he said finally.
He turned to leave.
But paused at the doorway.
“Reven,” he said without looking back.
“Yes?”
“If you dream tonight…”
My heart skipped.
…pay attention.”
Cold dread pooled in my chest.
“Why?”

Chapter 380
He glanced over his shoulder.
And for the first time, something slipped through his composure.
Concern.
Because dreams are where buried memories fight the hardest to surface.
“Because,” he said quietly, “someone is trying very hard to bring you back.”
Then he walked out.
The apartment door clicked shut behind him.
Silence swallowed the room.
Edna helped me lie back down, pulling a blanket over me like I was a child.
“Don’t think about anything,” she whispered. “Just sleep.”
I nodded weakly.
But as she turned off the lamp and left the room, one thought refused to fade.
Someone is trying very hard to bring you back.
Back to what?
Back to who?
Back to him?
