Raven’s POV

When I got home, I was surprised to see Edna.

For a moment I simply stood at the door staring at her, my hand still on the doorknob as if my brain needed time to process what my eyes were seeing.

“Edna?”

The name slipped out of my mouth in disbelief.

She was sitting comfortably on the couch like she had always been there, scrolling through her phone as if nothing unusual had happened.

I blinked once.

Then reality hit me.

“Edna!”

I rushed toward her and wrapped my arms around her tightly.

She gasped dramatically.

“Ouch! Raven!” she laughed. “Are you trying to crush my ribs?”

I quickly pulled away, suddenly realizing how tightly I had hugged her.

“Oh my God, I’m sorry,” I said, still staring at her in shock. “I just… I didn’t expect to see you here.”

Edna smirked.

“Well, clearly someone didn’t expect me to recover so quickly.”

I folded my arms.

“Wait… when did you get discharged?”

She raised an eyebrow.

“This afternoon.”

My eyes widened.

“This afternoon?”

“Yes.”

I frowned slightly.

“But… I thought you were still in the hospital.”

Edna sighed and leaned back on the couch.

“Well, I thought you were going to come pick me up,” she said.

That made me pause.

You thought I would come pick you?”

“Yes.”

Her expression turned slightly accusing,

“I actually waited for you.”

My brows furrowed.

“Wait… I didn’t even know you were being discharged today.”

She stared at me suspiciously.

“You didn’t?”

Edna raised a brow.

“Well, clearly someone else beat me to it.”

My stomach twisted slightly.

“Someone else?” I asked slowly.

Edna nodded.

“Yes.”

There was a small pause before she added casually,

The words felt strange coming out of my mouth.

Edna pulled me into a tight hug.

“You are the strongest person I have ever met,” she whispered.

After freshening up, I joined Edna on the bed, and we spent the rest of the night watching a series while munching on the snacks I had brought home.

The show was emotional too emotional.

By the time it ended, we were both in tears.

We went to bed shortly after.
