Chapter 406
Reven’s POV
I looked at him as he stared at me like he didn’t know me.
Like I was just… another worker.
Another stranger.
Another face in the crowd.
My chest tightened slightly, but I forced my expression to remain calm, professional.
He tilted his head a little, his gaze sharp, assessing.
“You’re a sales representative here, right?”
For a second, I just stared at him.
Alpha Ethan.
The same man whose presence once made my heart race for reasons I still couldn’t explain.
The same man who had looked at me like I mattered.
And now-
He was asking me if I worked here.
I swallowed whatever emotion tried to rise and nodded.
“Yes.”
“Good,” he said simply, like that settled everything. “Help me get milk for my kids. The last one I bought wasn’t good.”
Kids?
The word lingered in my mind, but I pushed it aside and focused.
“What’s the name of the last one you got?” I asked.
He told me.
I nodded thoughtfully. “Okay. That one is decent, but it’s not the best for kids, especially if you’re looking for something more nutritious.”
I gestured slightly. “Come with me.”
I led him to the kids‘ section, my steps steady even though my mind was anything but.
As I reached for a brand, I started explaining.
“This one is better. It has more calcium, supports growth, and is easier to digest. Most parents prefer it because it doesn’t upset the stomach.”
I handed it to him.

But even as I spoke.
I kept looking at him.
Studying him.
Trying to understand.
Why was he acting like this?
He knew me.
Didn’t he?
Or…
Was this intentional?
His face gave nothing away.
No recognition.
No warmth.
Nothing.
Just that same calm, controlled expression.
“Get me a few more things,” he said suddenly, listing items like I was his personal assistant..
My brows furrowed slightly.
Was he serious?
But before I could question it, he had already started walking.
I followed him anyway.
Because… my job.
But my thoughts were running wild.
Why was he behaving like this?
Why did it feel like he was deliberately pretending?
“…and juice boxes. Not the sugary ones.”
I blinked.
Wait.
What?
I hadn’t heard half of what he just said.
“Hey,”
A hand tapped my shoulder.

Chapter 406
I flinched slightly, snapping out of my thoughts.
“I’m sorry,” I said quickly. “What were you saying again?”
His eyes narrowed just a little.
Like he noticed.
Like he knew I wasn’t paying attention.
But instead of calling me out, he repeated everything.
Slowly.
Clearly.
And this time, I listened.
Carefully.
When I finished gathering everything, I thought we were done.
But I was wrong.
“Follow me,” he said.
I blinked. “To where?”
He didn’t answer.
He just walked.
And somehow… I followed.
We stopped in front of the women’s section.
I froze.
Wait.
What?
I looked at the sign.
Then at him.
Then back at the sign again.
What was he doing here?
He wasn’t married.
At least… not that I knew of.
So why
My thoughts were cut off as he walked straight to the lingerie section.
My throat went drv.
11:47 Tue, Apr 21 JOD.
Chapter 406
Oh.
Oh no.
This was not happening.
“Get me this,” he said, casually picking up a set and handing it to me.
I hesitated for a split second before taking it.
My face felt warm.
This was… uncomfortable.
Very uncomfortable.
But I said nothing.
I just did my job.
He moved from one rack to another, picking different styles, colors, and sizes each one more awkward than the last.
And I followed.
Silently.
Professional on the outside.
Dying on the inside.
Then-
His phone rang.
He answered immediately.
“Hey, baby.”
How are you doing? asked, his voice calm.
My fingers tightened slightly around the items I was holding.
Baby?
I couldn’t hear the voice on the other end.
But I didn’t need to.
The
way
his tone softened…
The way his lips curved slightly…
It was enough.
He talked for a while.
And for some reason, every second of that call felt longer than it should.
Then he ended it.

And turned to me.
“My baby doesn’t like this color,” he said, holding up one of the pieces. “Get me pink ones.”
I nodded.
“Okay.”
I went back to the rack and picked out different pink options.
“This one?” I asked.
He shook his head. “No. She won’t like it.”
I picked another.
“This?”
“No.”
Another.
“No.”
Another.
Still no.
At some point, I lost count.
He kept rejecting every single one.
And I kept going back.
Up.
Down.
Back again.
My legs were starting to ache.
My arms were full.
And my patience
Was hanging by a thread.
Finally, after what felt like forever, he was done.
I let out a small breath of relief.
“Take these to the cashier,” he said.
I blinked.
“I’m sorry?”
“Take them to the cashier,” he repeated, like it was the most normal thing in the world.
Chapter 406
“That’s not my job,” I said, my tone calm but firm. “That’s for the attendants or security.”
His eyes locked onto mine.
Cold.
Unyielding.
“I want you to do it.”
Something in his voice shifted.
A quiet threat.
