Chapter 114 Curiosity

Chapter 114 Curiosity

It seemed Merrick had held back far too much.

He had mistakenly thought Gillian had already yielded completely.

“What if I’m not craving your body at all? What if I want to take you out?”

Gillian cut off Merrick’s wild thoughts, staring at him with genuine curiosity about his bizarre train of thought.

There was no way she would ever crave this male’s body. It was disgusting!

Merrick did not take her harsh words to heart. He gestured at the golden psionic power binding his legs tightly.

“Gillian, you call this an attack? You tied up my legs. Aren’t you waiting to do whatever you want with me?

Even Merrick himself felt his words sounded overly flirtatious.

He never acted this forward normally, yet every hidden thought slipped out effortlessly whenever he was with Gillian.

“I’m dead serious. I really wanted to take you down.”

Merrick let out a soft sigh at her stubborn denial. Her little mouth was far too unyielding.

Gillian instantly regretted her harsh words the second they left her mouth.

Before she could react, the distance between them vanished in an instant, and she was pulled firmly into

his arms.

The sheer fabric on her body was soaked through with cold water, clinging tightly to her skin.

She had never imagined a level 9 beastman could possess such overwhelming speed and stamina.

In the next second, a sweet burst of green grape flavor flooded her mouth.

Merrick stole her breath away slowly, teasing her on purpose.

“Gillian, count how many grapes are in your mouth.”

“I’m not counting.”

“Just count. I’ll let you go once you’re done.”

“One… Two… Three… Nineteen… There are nineteen.”

“Wrong. It’s twenty-one.”

Gillian frowned in confusion. She was certain she had counted correctly, yet she must have missed a few

The next moment, she burned with pure embarrassment.

The bathroom door clicked shut.

Knocks came from outside the door.

Mabel grew anxious when Gillian still had not gotten out of bed.

She did not push the door open abruptly. Instead, she called out gently.

“Gillian, are you still asleep? It’s half past seven. Will you make it to the medical team on time this morning?”

Mabel assumed Gillian was simply worn out from overworking.

She was the only cleric stationed in the 9th Legion. Fresh out of training, she had to handle taint purification for a hundred thousand people single-handedly. Mabel worried constantly about whether her granddaughter could endure the endless workload.

Her worry grew heavier, and she muttered softly to herself. “You hurt your hand working. If you’re unwell, ask for leave. There’s no need to push yourself to the brink. Tell Merrick to recruit more clerics from the Elemental Cities. You can take turns resting then.”

“Grandma, I’m getting up now.”

Gillian struggled against the large hands wrapped around her waist, trying to push him away.

Merrick tightened his grip on her wrist and replied loudly enough for Mabel to hear. “Mabel, I came back early last night. Gillian’s sorting out some matters with me. It’s fine if she reports to the medical team a little late today.”

Gillian’s face flushed red with embarrassment. She kicked Merrick hard without a sound, shooting him a silent glare.

What was he thinking, speaking out loud? What would Grandma think if she saw their current state?

Mabel froze, wondering if she had misheard. “Is that you, Merrick?”

Had he rushed back early for Gillian?

“It’s me, Grandma. We’ll get up right away. I’ll drive Gillian to the legion later. Don’t worry about us.”

When he heard Merrick’s voice ring out from Gillian’s bedroom, Mabel’s expression turned complicated.

She finally smiled awkwardly and politely.

“Alright, hurry up and get ready. I’ve heated breakfast for you two.”

“Thank you, Mabel.”

Inside the room, Merrick still held Gillian’s wrist, staring closely at the faint bruise on her skin.

The mark was already fading, thankfully not serious.

“Mabel said you hurt your hand. How did it happen?”

“All your soldiers’ scale debridement work! Every single one of them stares at me expectantly all day long. I don’t even get a chance to use the restroom.”

“Thanks a lot, Gillian.”

Merrick knew full well how grueling the 9th Legion’s workload was. The reality was far tougher than what she had described.
