A waist-high metal platform stood in the middle of the room. On it rested a fluffy little creature with white fur tipped in soft pink. It flicked its tail casually and rolled about freely, looking utterly carefree
Spotting Gillian arriving, Sylas lowered his voice and briefed her on the situation of these females.
“They were kept in captivity by the Grayson family. To squeeze out endless labor from them, the clan forced them to take blackstone. Yet fearing their primal cores would grow powerful enough to let them escape, they also administered hallucinogens. Once addicted, these clerics would willingly toil away to get more of the substance.”
“They truly deserve death.”
Never before had Gillian felt such strong approval of Merrick’s decisive moves.
“There is no quick antidote for the hallucinogen toxin. They have to fight off the craving and pain entirely on their own.”
Sylas wished he could heal all of them. These clerics had been painstakingly trained by the Cleric Academy.
Each of them was capable of doing the work of a full medical troop if they could regain their sanity.
It was such a pity that many of their primal cores had already sustained irreversible damage. If not for that, Gillian could have recruited them to ease her own heavy workload.
Gillian thought of her unique healing psionic power and wondered if she stood a chance to help.
“May I go inside to see them?”
“Are you planning to try healing them personally, Mrs. Cole? We already attempted treatment last night, and healing metal barely works on their conditions.”
Even so, Sylas unlocked the metal door and let her in with him.
The moment the two stepped inside, those emaciated females who had been resting with their eyes closed slowly opened their eyes.
“Gillian? Is that really you, Gillian?”
Several of them stared closely at her and let out startled cries.
“Do you all know me?”
Gillian felt quite surprised. She had glanced over the group earlier and spotted none of her former classmates here.
“We know you well. You are the only female who managed to break free from their cruel clutches back in Goldspine City.”

Chapter 116 Current Condition
“Felix even spread vicious rumors, claiming you swindled him out of two hundred million beast coins and branded you as a shameless female who toyed with males. But we all know none of that is true.”
“You were our only hope of escape. We prayed every day that you would never get caught and dragged back here.”
When they saw Gillian dressed neatly in plain white robes, tears welled up and streamed down their cheeks.
The pink and white fox froze on the spot. It finally realized all those nasty remarks about Gillian had been deliberately fabricated by the Grayson family to ruin her reputation.
A surge of unspoken guilt welled up inside Tristan. He had misunderstood Gillian from the very start.
“How have you been getting along all this time?”
One female stood up gently, her eyes full of tenderness as she looked at Gillian, eager to hear that she was living a happy life.
“My days are tough and exhausting, yet they are meaningful and fulfilling. I sincerely wish all of you could regain such a life too.”
Gillian held out her hand toward the speaking female, determined to reach out and pull her fellow companions out of despair.
The female reached out to meet her grasp, yet her expression twisted the second their hands touched.
Hatred and resentment flashed across her face, and her tone turned sharp and harsh.
“Why did you get to escape instead of us?
“Gillian, why did you never come to rescue us? Once you learned what happened here, why did you never gather people to set us free?”
Her raised voice stirred up unrest among the other formerly calm females, sending their emotions spiraling out of control.
Watching them grow increasingly agitated, the little pink-white fox let out clear and melodious fox cries, hoping to soothe and calm their disturbed minds. This time, however, its power failed to take much effect.
The standing female resisted the soothing influence completely.
Still, she refused to loosen her grip on Gillian’s hand, squeezing it so hard that it felt like her bones might crush.
Gillian did not pull away. She was dead set on saving these trapped females.
“Be careful. Mrs. Cole.”
Though the female held no extraordinary strength. Sylas could not help feeling worried. He even stepped forward, ready to separate the two.

‘Captain Moore, I am a level 3 cleric. I have no reason to fear an ordinary female. Stay calm. I will be fine”
Gillian firmly turned down his offer of help.
