Chapter 132 Admiration

Chapter 132 Admiration

Elára had saved Gillian a lot of trouble. She was truly a capable person.

No one could turn down such a stunning female with great strength and a gentle smile.

After stepping out of the elevator on the second floor, Elara stopped before her dorm door and glanced at the room next door.

“Where do you stay?”

“I live right next to you. I only come back here to rest at noon and will never disturb you.” Gillian explained. “I head back to the residential zone every night.”

She had assigned dorm access rights to Evelyn and the others the day before, and found the vacant room next to hers was already reserved.

After checking, she learned it belonged to Elara and was marked as in regular use. She had guessed Elara might return soon, yet never expected her to show up so abruptly.

Elara’s eyes widened at once. She took a step closer to Gillian, and the surrounding air turned tense instantly.

They stared at each other for a long while. In the end, Elara stamped her foot in frustration. “You live in the residential zone. Are you married?”

“Yes, I am married.” Gillian stepped back unconsciously, unused to such close contact. “But you seem upset upon hearing this news, Ms. Locke.”

“You leaned close to me voluntarily. Do you mind it all of a sudden?” There was a hint of grievance in Elara’s tone.

Gillian felt confused. She could not figure out why Elara would feel wronged over such a small matter.

“Or have you pretended to be fond of me ever since we first met?”

Gillian was caught off guard by these words. She wondered if Elara had seen her tease Tristan earlier.

“I have never put on an act toward you, Ms. Locke.”

Elara realized she had lost her composure. She stepped aside and scanned her wrist terminal to unlock the

metal door.

Watching her lonely figure walk inside, Gillian felt awkward and tried to smooth things over. “Ms. Locke, you have long been my role model. I acted flustered the moment we met out of pure excitement. I truly look up to you and hold deep admiration for you.”

Her words made Elara halt her steps.

“I see. But you looked displeased when I drew near you now.”

“That was not the case. I was simply startled by your sudden approach.”

“You are only twenty years old. Why did you get married so early?” There was a hint of gritted teeth in her words as Elara spoke, but she didn’t turn around.

Gillian found Elara’s attitude rather strange. She seemed utterly shocked to learn about her marriage.

Elara knew her age and cleric rank well, yet knew nothing of her marital status.

“Have we met before, Ms. Locke?”

“Do you think we have?” Elara spun around and fixed her gaze firmly on Gillian.

Up close, her voice lost all its usual coldness and carried soft, feminine charm.

Gillian hesitated. “Have we crossed paths before?”

That familiar gaze struck a chord in her heart. Still, she was certain she would never forget meeting such an outstanding female.

“Sorry, I think we have never met. You must have mistaken me for someone else. I have admired you and followed your deeds ever since six years. Almost every cleric from the Elemental Cities regards you as an idol.”

“You really do not know me?” A trace of hurt flashed across Elara’s eyes. She lowered her head in disappointment and stepped into the room.

The metal door slammed shut with a loud bang.

Gillian’s heart skipped a beat, filled with confusion and unease.

She quickly opened her wrist terminal and sent a message to Merrick. “Ms. Locke is back. She has brought ten more clerics here. Have you received any related notice?”

She wanted to find out if Merrick had hidden this news on purpose.

Merrick had not reached the core taint zones yet, so the StarNet signal remained stable.

He grew flustered the instant he read the message. Elara was back?

She returned without any prior notice at all. Could it be that she had learned about his marriage to Gillian and rushed back in a hurry?

They had formed their marital bond on the tenth day of the month, and Elara was supposed to know nothing about it. He immediately placed a video call to Gillian.

Seeing Gillian was staying in the cleric dormitory area, he let out a sigh of relief. He never thought Elara would settle down here so soon.
