Chapter 230 I’ll Protect You Too
Gillian’s cheeks were flushed and her eyes bright, running on pure adrenaline.
Merrick took the shells anyway and stacked them. “You’ve been up all night. You need rest.”

She honestly felt fine. She wasn’t the type to push past her limits. But Merrick had already decided she way exhausted. He shut the cargo door and signaled the grip-buggy to move.
“Where’d all these eggs come from?”
Tristan’s crate sat close to the hauler. He poked his fuzzy head out.
The eggs were huge, maybe five times the size of ostrich eggs, and the heavy grip-buggy was packed.
Gillian was in too good a mood not to explain. “Lily and Ruby spent the whole night clearing ten A-class taint cores. The ten flower beasts from those cores are right over there.”
She tilted her chin toward them. Just saying their names lit up her face. She didn’t catch Tristan’s ⚫ expression going tight.
“Please tell me those eggs aren’t all flower beasts.”
“You’re sharper than you look.”
Tristan’s head throbbed.
That many? They’re gonna rip my tail off. Forget that. They’re gonna tear the whole 9th Legion apart.
Gillian shaded her eyes and looked toward the towers.
Tristan followed her gaze. Ten pools built in one night? Insane.
Then he spotted two small figures on top of one and squinted. “What are those two black blobs?”
“Lily and Ruby.” Pure pride in Gillian’s voice. “They’ve been going nonstop. Before dawn, they cleared the dormant cores nearby too. Dug up thirty unhatched eggs. So we’ve got forty-two flower beasts now. Pretty great, right?”
Tristan’s pink eyes blew wide. Forty-two? His tail ached just thinking about it.
He dropped into his crate, swallowed two beast crystals in one gulp, and slammed his eyes shut. He wasn’t coming out till level 7. No way.
Gillian noticed the silence and glanced over. He was already curled up, pushing for the next level.
“He really doesn’t quit. Leveling up in the middle of all this takes serious focus.”
The two of them had started off rough, but Tristan had his good points when he wasn’t playing enemy. Elara wouldn’t have approved of him otherwise.

Chapter 230 I’ll Protect You Too
“Gillian, what’re you thinking about?” Merrick’s voice pulled her back.
Gillian smiled, “Nothing. I’m just happy.”

Merrick said, “Yeah, it’s a solid win. Every last taint core within a six-mile radius has been wiped clean– huge for the 9th Legion.”
He looked out toward the black expanse of the taint’s source. Six miles was six miles, but the effect on the source itself was still hard to see.
Still, the thought of clean skies and open land made his blood run hot.
The White Griffin ran a full analysis on the cleared zone, trying to trace how the taint had formed there What came back made no sense. None of the individual cores were connected. No channels, no veins. Just a few crawl spaces carved by scale parasites.
Merrick and Gillian both felt it. Like the taint and the white seeds had just appeared. No pattern at all.
“So where did they come from?”
Unease crept into Gillian’s chest. She frowned at the flower beasts, searching.
