Chapter 35 Breakthrough
Thinking of Elias, a deep ache hit Gillian, and her eyes welled up before she could stop them. She had failed to protect them!
Never again.
The blackstone in Gillian’s palm started bleaching white at an uncanny speed. Her breakthrough was happening right here, right now!
The massive white fox touched down with elegance, his first target locked on Gillian standing not far off.
“Gillian!”
The enormous fox’s eyes flared red, and a wave of pink light pulsed outward in an instant.
The foxkin’s gift for mind illusion locked everyone in his immediate radius in place.
The effect rippled outward at the speed of light. Every beastman who had been glaring at him only moments before went hazy-eyed.
“Gillian cons men out of money and skin. She’s a fraud and a disgrace. Grab her!”
The narrow fox eyes had drained of all feeling. “Let’s see who can save you now!”
His gift was nothing short of a cheat code.
Gillian watched the soldiers turn and close in around her. She dodged left and right, every miss a hair’s breadth from disaster.
She let out a soft sigh.
“Tristan, why do you keep coming after me? Don’t tell me you’re falling for me?”
“Gillian, I’d sooner die alone than fall for someone like you!”
Pure revulsion filled the white fox’s eyes. With a slut like Gillian, dodging her was already a full-time job. How would he ever fall for her?
“Then why are you stuck to me like dog crap on the bottom of a shoe?”
“Gillian!!!”

Chapter 35 Breakthrough
A killing edge crept across Tristan’s snout. The female was crude and beneath contempt! “Whoever ends up married to you is in for nine lifetimes of bad luck!”
“I think you’re jealous. Or maybe you’re secretly in love with me? You keep saying my name like it’s a song stuck in your head.”
This female had no shame!
Her ego had completely run off the rails!
Tristan felt mortified to the bone. A flush of red climbed up his face.
“Tristan Lawson would rather drop dead than fall for you in this life!”
The white fox tilted his chin up with cold pride and stared at Gillian like she was already a
corpse.
The blackstone in Gillian’s palm crumbled to powder.
Every last drop of psionic energy inside it was absorbed.
Her primal core erupted, and the ceiling that capped a level 2 cleric shattered in a single beat.
Her aura climbed and kept climbing. Flashes of gold flickered through her eyes.
Everything about her shifted. Her presence grew vast and unreadable, her movements sharper and quicker.
She tipped her palm upward, the psionic power surging through her like an endless tide.
Level 3 already?
Now it was her turn.
Gillian touched the floor with the lightest step, and the golden ribbons of psionic power solidified into a glittering road of light beneath her feet.
The path carried Gillian in arcing leaps through the air.
She wove through the entranced beastmen, her movements looking clumsy yet threading every attack with razor precision.
She bounced lightly off the soldiers’ shoulders, vaulting straight toward the white fox.

Chapter 35 Breakthrough
Tristan saw Gillian come stumbling his way and let a mocking grin pull at his snout.
Running straight at him? She might as well be a lamb walking into a fox’s mouth.
Even the exhaustion from hitting a thousand people with his mind illusion couldn’t curb his hunger to tear Gillian apart.
The huge white fox gave his fluffy coat a quick shake, dipped his head with a soft growl, coiled the muscles in his legs, and launched, jaws splitting wide, snapping down on Gillian.
Gillian’s face caught a flash of shock as she pressed her hands together.
A heartbeat later, a massive golden ribbon snapped around the fox and pinned him.
The force yanked both of them down to the floor at once.
“You actually think your psionic power can hurt me? Keep dreaming!”
Tristan’s body kept pushing forward, refusing to be stopped.
What floored him was the swarm of golden ribbons that suddenly bloomed all around him.
They blindfolded him and curtained off Gillian’s figure, swallowing her from sight.
“Gillian, what did you do?! If you’ve got the nerve, stop hiding!”
“Hiding? I’m not hiding from anything.” Her voice drifted in from behind him.
The brazen little female was still mocking him. He was going to tear her apart!
The white fox whirled around in a fury and slammed into the floating golden ribbons, shredding them on impact.
But Gillian was nowhere in sight.
