Gillian stared at her wrist terminal in shock. She found no button to close the pop-up window at all.

Freya leaned over to take a look. Gillian instantly projected the screen outward. Freya frowned in confusion after reading the message. “Since Black Rick sent you the invitation, tap to accept it

They both watched the prompt turn into a cute little white griffin.

Before Gillian could make any choice, the palm-sized white griffin solidified into a real creature.

“Host is forced into team formation. Entering Trial Instance. Countdown: 10 seconds.”

With a low roar, the small griffin swelled into a huge beast. It opened its giant jaws and pounced straight at Gillian.

Freya reacted quickly and pulled Gillian to run away.

They were terrified that the beast meant to swallow Gillian whole.

In the next second, both of them were swallowed into the griffin’s belly.

When they opened their eyes again, they stood in a dense primeval forest.

Tall trees blocked out most sunlight, and the whole place was dead silent.

“Freya, where are we?”

“Don’t be scared, Gillian. Try contacting Black Rick. He invited you here, so he must be somewhere nearby.”

“I feel something is very wrong here.”

Gillian’s wrist terminal had vanished without a trace. Right after that, two small cold creatures appeared in her arms out of nowhere.

One was white with a lion’s head and a pair of wings. The other was black with a lion’s head and no wings.

Gillian trembled all over and held the two little ones tightly in her arms.

These were exactly her children, Elias and Asher.

The moment they spotted Gillian, the two cubs let out soft whimpers and called out to her in an indistinct voice. “Mom.”

The familiar glow in their eyes made Gillian’s heart ache sharply.

Could it be that she was not the only one who had traveled through time? Had her children come along with her, too?

Gillian pinched her fingers seven times, then tapped her nose three times. It was a secret signal she had

agreed on with her kids in her previous life, meaning danger was approaching.

The two griffin cubs immediately calmed down and kept a sharp watch over their surroundings.

Gillian held back her tears. She was fully certain these were her children.

Freya swallowed hard in surprise. “Gillian, when did you even have kids with the commander? Look at this black one. Its beast form looks almost identical to the commander’s.”

“Does it really?”

Gillian pretended to know nothing. “I have never seen Merrick’s real beast form before.”/

Asher’s eyes turned cold. Who was this female talking about? Was she referring to his late father?

Elias nudged Asher gently with his hoof and blinked anxiously.

Why were they stuck in their shifted forms?

Asher shook his head slightly at Elias.

He clearly remembered they had died. He had detonated a taint core with his primal core and taken down a large group of city-wrecking beastmen along with himself.

Showing up in this place was far beyond his expectations.

Still, there was a stranger beside their mother, so neither of them rushed to reveal their true identities.

“It truly does. These two little ones rely on you so much. They must have been sent by Black Rick to keep you safe.”

The black and white griffin cubs were no bigger than half an arm’s length. They lay quietly in Gillian’s arms, looking gentle and attached, showing no sign of hostility.

After comforting Gillian, Freya scanned their surroundings with cautious eyes.

“We need to find Black Rick first. We have to figure out why he brought you here.”

She knew she was dragged along by accident.

Gillian felt more and more uneasy about the strange plants around them.

She wove golden threads out of thin air and struck a low bush ahead.

The bush shattered instantly and faded away into white light.

“They are not real physical objects?”

Both Gillian and Freya gasped in surprise. The two cubs also looked thoughtful.

“Gillian, this place feels like the top-tier simulation space built by wrist terminals on Capital Planet.”
