The scent of expensive perfume mingled with the glamorous atmosphere.

Groups of guests clustered together, chatting amiably.

Clara brushed past the crowds, rushing toward the lounges at the back.

She pushed open the lounge doors one by one, searching for him. Thankfully, since the guests had just arrived, the resting area was currently empty.

As she pushed open the fifth door, she froze.

Sitting by the coffee table was a teenage boy. He was focused intensely on completing a test paper.

Hearing the door open, the boy looked up and locked eyes with Clara. After a few brief seconds, he averted his gaze and returned to his homework.

Yet, several minutes passed without him writing a single word.

Clara walked in and spoke softly, "Christian."

This was her oldest brother, Christian Lambert.

Christian was fifteen this year, just starting high school.

Growing up, his grades had always been stellar. Even their mother's tragic passing hadn't impacted his academic performance.

She highly suspected that Vera had something to do with the fact that Christian hadn't gotten into Springfield First Academy.

She hadn't expected him to attend this banquet.

Christian gathered his assignments, stood up coldly, and started toward the door without even giving Clara a second glance.

Clara realized just how tall he had gotten. At only fifteen, he was almost six feet tall, towering nearly a head above her.

But later on, she never had to look up at him again. His legs had been crippled, condemning him to a wheelchair... Yet even that sudden disability hadn't broken him. Christian remained the most outstanding among the five siblings.

Staring at his retreating back, Clara pressed her lips together and stayed silent.

She didn't need to meddle in his life. He would still grow up to be the pride of the Lambert family.
