Teddy guiltily lowered his gaze. "I... I got so bored staying home all by myself."
He poked his index fingers together, looking entirely lost.
All of Clara's anger completely evaporated.
Last time, this guy snapped back to normal relatively quickly. Why was he still acting like a toddler after a whole night?
Massaging her temples, she sighed. "Let's go to my lounge first."
As the star of today's event, she had a private dressing room. She led Teddy inside, pulled a handheld console from her bag, and handed it to him.
She had grabbed Ethan's favorite gaming console on her way out this morning, worried the kid would get too distracted to finish his homework.
"You stay here and play this," Clara instructed. "I'll be back for you in an hour at the most."
Teddy nodded eagerly, curling up on the couch to play the game with intense enthusiasm.
Clara left some snacks and drinks on the table for him before finally making her way back to the banquet hall.
Barely a moment after she left, the lounge door was gently pushed open.
Without looking up, Teddy mumbled sweetly, "The juice was so good. Can I have some more..."
He paused, sensing something was wrong.
He looked up and saw Gavin Vance marching toward him.
His eyes widened in terror as he scrambled to press himself into the corner of the couch. "Bad guy! You're a bad guy! Help! Help me!"
Gavin raised a hand and delivered a swift, precise chop to the back of his neck.
The last word died in Teddy's throat as his eyes rolled back, and he slumped over unconscious.
I'm so sorry, sir...
Gavin wanted to cry.
Why did he always have to be the villain?
If his boss's alternate personality remembered this later, he genuinely feared the man would call the cops on him.
