Chapter 109 Elara Is Here
Laila’s POV:
“What do you mean?”

I was still a bit confused. Pearl rested her chin on her hand and started analyzing. “Ms. Conlay, think about it. If the Alpha King really wanted to force a mark on you and make you his Luna, with his power and authority, he could just issue an order no one could refuse and drag you to the Royal Court. Why give you three whole months to find a mate?
“A male who’s actually hunting won’t give his prey time to run away!”
“That’s a good point.” I ran my tongue over my fangs, thinking it over.
If King Vaughn was determined, he wouldn’t leave such an obvious “loophole.”
So… What was he actually up to?
“Maybe,” Faulkner said hesitantly, “His Majesty already has someone in mind, and this is just … a push. Ms. Conlay, you have to understand that whoever becomes your mate will automatically inherit the title of Duke. With your current achievements and reputation, if you were to marry certain pack leaders who aren’t fully loyal to the throne, it could shake the stability of the Royal Court. His Majesty may be using this to guide you toward the person he
trusts.”
“Maybe.”
I scratched my head in frustration. Dammit. Couldn’t I just decide my own marriage?
Over the next few days, while I was patrolling Silvermoon Pack’s territory, I started noticing something strange.
Some young males kept showing up along my usual routes.
Some showed off at the training field on purpose. They showed killing moves, muscles shifting under their fur, leaping high, and landing hard enough to stir up wind. Some just “happened” to be by the creek, washing their battle wounds. Water ran down their solid chests, shining in the sunlight. Others brought fresh prey–rare snow pheasants or even mountain goats–and left them in obvious spots near my den, making low, purring sounds. One guy with “poetic blood” actually started howling a love song in an ancient language under a laurel tree. It was so cringy that even the elders hurried past with their heads down.
I almost covered my eyes with a paw.

“Are they courting you or auditioning for a circus?” Nita laughed in my head.
But the most unexpected “performance” came from outside the pack.
Elara suddenly “visited” Silvermoon Pack.
“Where’s Holt? And Maris? Are they here too?” I asked calmly.
“No sign of them. Just Elara and her daughter,” Pearl replied.

I quickly tied my long hair into a high ponytail so it wouldn’t get in the way. “Let’s go see what kind of show they’re trying to put on.”
Pearl hurried to stop me. “Ms. Conlay, don’t go! Their filthy words will only dirty your ears!”
“It’s fine.”
Jestood up, my breathing steady. “They already tried to drown me in lies when they kicked
of the Ironclaw Pack A little more dirt isn’t going to hurt me now.”
