In the next instant, no one even saw what happened. The Beta guard was suddenly thrown backward, crashing into the tall chair Morgana had just left.

Crack! The chair broke apart.

The guard coughed up blood and fainted right there.

Morgana’s heart jumped. She had been watching Laila the whole time, and Laila hadn’t moved at all!

Other guards rushed in and carried the unconscious Beta werewolf away. But blood had already splashed onto the chair and carpet. Maids scrubbed frantically, yet the sharp metallic smell filled the hall.

Morgana hated dirt. She would never sit in that chair again.

A new chair was brought in quickly, but the hall felt frozen.
