“That’s not true. Didn’t Prince Vance go to the sanctum? The Moon Goddess already approved their
union.”
Irene argued back.
“That’s hard to say. Men change their minds fast!” Martha snapped. “Look at Holt. When he begged to marry Ms. Laila, he looked so sincere. And just one year later, he fell for another she–wolf. He even tried to take Ms. Laila’s property and territory!”
Irene wanted to argue, but she couldn’t deny Martha had a point.
Holt had been Ms. Laila’s fated mate. If even he could change so quickly, what about Samuel?
With his status and power, he could choose any she–wolf he wanted.
Irene let out a quiet sigh. “Prince Vance isn’t that kind of man.”
That was her hope. She didn’t want Laila to be hurt again.
Martha rolled her eyes. “I hope so. Otherwise, I’ll assassinate Prince Vance myself!”
She paused, then turned to Faulkner. “Faulkner, you’re coming with me when that happens.”
Faulkner blinked. “What?”
Martha raised a brow. “Don’t tell me you wouldn’t kill Prince Vance før Ms. Laila?”
“I didn’t say that,” Faulkner replied quickly.
“Good.” Martha nodded. “Then strap some explosives to yourself. Worst case, we die with him.”
Faulkner’s eyes widened.
Martha gave him a warning look.
Faulkner licked his lips nervously. “No, I think that’s actually a brilliant idea.
“That’s better.” Martha finally looked satisfied.
Irene looked at Faulkner, then at Martha. She suddenly felt like she’d just noticed something between
them.
“Fine. Then let’s gather people and go to Ironclaw Pack and Frostfang Pack. We’ll ask them who started
these rumors!”
Martha turned to leave.

Faulkner quickly grabbed her arm. “Wait. You can’t be reckless. If you go like that, it’s the same as declaring war on two major packs.”
“Then what should we do?” Martha was furious. “I can’t stand seeing Ms. Conlay framed like this!”
Ever since she had scolded Elara last time, Martha’s temper had grown worse. It was like she had entered a rebellious phase late in life. She did whatever she felt like.
Faulkner felt helpless, but he still offered a plan.
