Laila was slightly stunned. “Holt changed his target again? He really falls for someone new every time he sees one. What about Maris?”

Martha shook her head. “Maris is still in the Ironclaw Pack, but she is the secondary Luna. Victoria is the primary Luna.”

Laila could not help letting out a cold laugh. “He really is obsessed with having two Lunas.”

That was true. Maris was not suitable to be Ironclaw Pack’s Luna now. She could not help Holt in any meaningful way.

As for the Langleys, they were the Alpha family of the Blackrock Pack, and they were somehow related to Samson’s family. The Blackrock Pack itself had developed at an average pace, but with the support and backing of the Snowpeak Pack, it was still considered a mid–tier pack.

With someone like Veronica as Luna, Ironclaw Pack’s future would probably improve.

“Victoria Langley?”

Laila remembered her.

Victoria’s mate, the younger brother of General Finneas Woods, had died on the battlefield.

According to the rumors, he had been handsome, brave, and full of potential, but he died in the war in Vagen.

After that, Victoria fainted several times during the funeral. People said she cried so hard it broke her heart.

Laila found that even stranger. “He usually stays out of things like this. He does not seem like the type who arranges marriages.”

“Exactly.” Martha sighed. “But the marriage still happened. Mrs. Enclaw must be very pleased.”

Laila did not respond. Her gaze darkened slightly.

She wondered whether there was something hidden behind this marriage. Could King Vaughn be involved?

Laila frowned and thought about it for a moment, then decided to stop worrying about it.

Ironclaw Pack’s affairs had nothing to do with her.

But a few days later, some people from Blackrock Pack came to visit and asked to see Laila.

Martha felt it was bad luck. “Ms. Conlay, maybe you should not see them. Who knows what they want? If they came to ask about Ironclaw Pack’s situation, they should have come earlier, not after the marriage is already settled and the wedding clothes are already being prepared.”

Laila also felt there was no reason to see them, so she nodded and had Martha turn them away.

She had originally planned to find time to visit the library at Moonlight Academy, but there were too many things to deal with in Silvermoon Pack. On top of that, she needed to stay with Raymond. After thinking about it, she decided to write a letter to Aerith instead and ask him to send her some books related to Ancient Friselian.

Ordinary students were not allowed to take books out of the academy library. But she was Aerith’s favorite student.

A few more days passed, and snow began to fall.

Laila took Raymond outside to look at the snow. The snowfall was light, and only a thin layer of frost covered the ground.

But Raymond was still very happy.

He placed his hand against his throat and tried hard to speak to Laila. But after several attempts, no sound came out. His small face turned red from the effort.

Laila crouched down and said gently, “It is all right. Take your time. We are not in a hurry.”

Raymond nodded, but there was a trace of disappointment in his eyes. Before, he could at least make faint sounds, but these past few days even that had disappeared, which made him

anxious.
