Chapter 279 Seeing Holt Again

Third–person POV:

Laila nodded. “Alright. Bring Robin along, too. Have her check on Lillian.”

Robin Paisley was another one of Rowan’s apprentices, and she specialized in women’s health.

Lillian had grown up with Laila. Even after Laila left for Moonlight Academy, they kept in touch through letters.

When her mother and aunts passed away, Lillian stayed by her side, giving her warmth and strength.

There was no way Laila could ignore her.

A trace of worry showed on her face. “I have a feeling that she might not be doing too well.”

Pearl nodded repeatedly. “Yes, we have to bring her! Ms. Whitmore has lost so much weight!”

Early the next morning, Laila set out with Viola. As they stepped outside, they noticed the neighbors next door were moving out.

Laila greeted them, “You’re moving?”

The family smiled. “Someone offered a high price for the place. We were planning to move west anyway, since it’s closer to our child’s school.”

“That’s nice.”

Laila nodded, not thinking much of it.

She and Viola went to pick up Robin, who was staying at the Frostfang Pack.

Not long after arriving, Viola suddenly let out a small sound.

“Look, there’s the loser.” She nudged Laila with her elbow.

Laila turned her head and saw Holt,

He was standing under a tree. He looked lost in thought and utterly worn out.

Laila quickly looked away, having no intention of greeting him.

But Holt had already seen her.

His eyes lit up for a moment, and then dimmed again.

A few seconds later, he walked over.

“Laila, long time no see.” His gaze stayed fixed on her face.

Laila’s expression turned cold. She ignored him.

Holt gave a bitter smile. “I’m not here for anything else. I just wanted to ask if you have seen Freya?”

Laila frowned. “What happened to her?”

“She’s missing, and she won’t respond to my mind link. I don’t know where she went.”

Laila let out a cold laugh. “If she’s missing, then go find her. What are you doing here at Frostfang Pack?”

“I’ve been looking,” Holt said. “But someone told me she was seen here, so I came to check.”

Hearing that, Laila’s frown deepened.

Logically, Freya hadn’t even awakened her wolf spirit yet, so she shouldn’t be able to stay out alone for this long.

Could it be those two men who had hurt Pearl last time?

Unfortunately, Pearl still couldn’t draw their faces well enough, so they had no way to track them.
