After returning to Ironclaw Pack, Victoria told Holt about the pregnancy.

Holt stood there for a long time without moving.

A child. His child.

He should have been happy. He had an heir now. But the wolf inside his chest let out a low growl, and there was no joy in it, only a restless unease he couldn’t explain.

He had been planning to end the mate bond with Victoria.

He had been planning to go after Laila again.

He had spent several nights thinking it through, even rehearsing how he would say it.

But now…

He lowered his gaze to Victoria’s stomach. There was a small life growing there, his blood running through her body. His child.

Victoria leaned into him, her voice soft and gentle. “This is our first child. I’m really looking forward to it. I’ll take good care of myself. We’ll protect the baby together, alright?”

Holt didn’t answer.

His thoughts were a mess.

One moment, it was Laila’s face in his mind, those calm eyes that had never once looked at him as if he mattered.

The next, it was Victoria’s stomach, that life tying him down.

Then Daphne’s words surfaced. Victoria had gone to Silvermoon Pack today and made a

scene.

Laila must know by now.

What will she think of me, knowing Victoria is pregnant?

Over the past few days, Chloe had been coming to Silvermoon Pack often. Laila had asked Viola to invite her, creating the appearance that they were close. The idea was to make Estelle believe everything was going smoothly, that Chloe could get closer to Laila through Viola and eventually reach Samuel.

That day, after Chloe left, Viola sat down beside Laila.

“Laila, Chloe says she convinced Alpha Hugo. He’ll work with us.”

Laila thought for a moment. “What do you think of Alpha Hugo?”

“I had Charlotte look into him. He used to have a decent reputation, but now… not so much. He’s gotten timid.”

“Exactly. He’s been mated to Estelle for years and never resisted. Now he suddenly wants to push back? I don’t buy it.”

“Maybe he’s been suppressed for so long that, with our help, he finally wants to fight back. Push someone too far, and they’ll snap. I don’t think he’d be content staying under her thumb forever.”

“He may not be content, but that doesn’t mean he’ll trust us. And don’t forget, Frostfang Pack behind him still relies on Estelle.”

Viola nodded, her expression turning serious.
