Ah, there it is. After all that rambling, she had finally arrived at the true motive.

Tabitha had set her sights on Silas.

"Let me guess," Yvaine said dryly. "You want him for yourself."

Given his incredible looks and staggering net worth, it wasn't exactly surprising that Tabitha was ready to throw herself at him.

Tabitha’s face flushed bright red. She glared at her cousin defensively. "What are you talking about? I'm trying to protect you and the family! If you dump him, he's going to be furious. By marrying him myself, I'd be sacrificing my own happiness to protect the Sterlings from his wrath. I'm literally doing this for you!"

"And who exactly told you I was getting a divorce?" Yvaine asked flatly.

Tabitha scoffed. "You don't even love him. Stop lying to yourself. I know you're still in love with Zachary, and you only married this guy to make him jealous. It's so obvious."

Yvaine just stared at her.

Whatever. Arguing with an idiot was a waste of breath. If she listened to this much longer, she worried the stupidity might be contagious.

She turned on her heel and walked toward the door.

Tabitha rushed after her, desperate to have the last word. "Marriage is a lifelong commitment! You can't just ruin your entire future over a petty grudge. Divorce him now while it's still a secret! If Zachary finds out you were actually married, he'll consider you damaged goods. A divorcee! No matter how much you beg him then, it won't matter. The heir to the Lowell family is never going to marry a divorced woman!"

Yvaine didn't even dignify that with a response, simply pushing open the door and walking back to the private room.

She mentioned it to him, and he readily agreed.

"Do I need to send a digital gift card to the chat?" he asked, looking at his phone.

"Hm?"
