The project manager stood in stunned silence.
He glanced nervously at the door to the general office and whispered, "Did Mr. Lowell get into a fight with Ms. Sterling?"
Mona didn't say a word, her silence a confirmation in itself.
The manager frowned. Did the lives of corporate grunts mean absolutely nothing to these billionaires? Mr. Lowell and Ms. Sterling were the ones having a lover's spat, yet they were the ones getting tortured for it.
He wanted to ask more, but the door suddenly clicked open, and Zachary stepped out.
The manager snapped his mouth shut.
Zachary shot them both a frigid glare, scoffed coldly, and strode away.
The manager was speechless.
Mona sighed internally.
What an atrocious temper.
Once Zachary was out of earshot, the manager turned to Mona. "Mona, are the people working under Ms. Sterling treated like this too?"
Treated like pitiful punching bags, forced to absorb every ounce of their boss's unchecked rage?
Mona shook her head. "...They have it much better than us."
The manager let out a heavy sigh. Ah... same industry, completely different fates. Why did they have to be the miserable ones?
—
Zachary tracked down Ryan, Spencer, and the rest of his usual crowd at a high-end club.
He glared at them with open dissatisfaction. "Drinking without me?"
The group exchanged wary glances.
He'd been in a foul, explosive mood for days. Inviting him out would have just been asking for a ruined night.
Judging by the dark cloud hanging over Zachary's face... it seemed Yvaine still hadn't come crawling back to apologize.
Zachary dropped onto a sofa and started drinking alone, downing one glass of liquor after another in moody silence.
Ryan eventually reached out and clamped a hand over his glass. "Zachary, take it easy. You're going to make yourself sick."
Zachary scowled, glaring daggers at him, but Ryan held firm.
Finally, Zachary released his grip on the glass.
"Look, man..." Ryan started carefully. "Why don't you just go apologize to Yvaine? Talk it out nicely. Honestly, from where we're sitting, you're the one who crossed a line this time."
