He really was in a rush.
—
Sunday was spent entirely at the mansion. They didn't step out once.
Yvaine spent the morning cataloging her mountain of lavish gifts.
The jewelry and antiques were exquisite and astronomically expensive.
But what was she supposed to do with them?
Leave them here?
She wouldn't be visiting Docksy very often—likely only during major holidays when Silas returned home. If she left them sitting in these velvet boxes, she'd never get to enjoy them.
"I'll have a specialized courier transport everything back to Brenok," Silas said smoothly, reading her mind.
Yvaine hesitated, feeling a bit awkward. She didn't want him to think she was a gold digger obsessed with securing the loot.
"That's too much trouble," she smiled softly. "Leaving them here is fine."
"We're not going to be living here full-time," Silas replied sensibly. "Are they just going to collect dust?"
Since he was the one insisting, Yvaine didn't argue further.
They booked a late evening flight back to the mainland.
After packing their bags and sharing a farewell dinner with the family, they headed to the airport and flew straight to Brenok.
Instead of going to Silas's apartment, they drove directly to the Sterling family estate.
Yvaine had called ahead, and her parents were waiting up for them.
She sat in the living room, recounting the details of her trip and how wonderfully Silas's family had treated her.
By the time the conversation wrapped up, it was incredibly late, so they decided to just sleep in Yvaine's childhood bedroom.
After washing up, Yvaine practically collapsed onto the mattress, ready to pass out.
Silas looked over at her. "Do you have any condoms here?"
Yvaine: "...!!!"
She stared at him, absolutely exasperated. "No."
Did this man never run out of energy?
Between the flights, the driving, the endless socializing with hundreds of relatives... she felt more drained than after an eighty-hour workweek.
How was he not tired?!
"Looks like you owe me another round," Silas noted casually.
Yvaine went dead silent.
He seriously refused to take a single night off.
It was as if skipping a day meant he was somehow being cheated out of his rights.
"Sure," Yvaine nodded, too exhausted to argue.
