My Luna Became An Alpha After I Rejected Her novel Chapter 167

Chapter 167

Cassia sat behind her desk in the hospital office, flipping through a stack of patient files. The soft hum of the air conditioner filled the quiet room. Sunlight slanted through the blinds, casting stripes of gold across the papers. Her brows furrowed in concentration until she finally dropped her pen and leaned back with a sigh.

Across from her, Arthur sat on the couch, his chin resting in his ands, eyes clouded with boredom.

“Mommy,” he called suddenly, breaking the silence. “How’s Ethan?”

Cassia looked up, her expression softening. “He’s fine now,” she said gently. “He’s awake.”

Arthur’s face lit up instantly. “Really? Can I see him now?”

She exhaled through her nose. “Arthur, Mommy’s busy right now-”

“Please, Mommy!” he cut in, pouting with wide eyes.

Cassia’s resistance melted. She stood up, smiling faintly. “Fine, let’s go before you drive me crazy.”

He jumped off the chair, excitement bubbling out of him as they walked together down the hallway.

When they entered Ethan’s ward, the little boy was sitting upright, his nanny feeding him soup.

“Ethan!” Arthur called.

Ethan’s head snapped toward the door. His face lit up the moment he saw him. “Hey, Arthur!”

Arthur ran forward, climbed onto the bed, and threw his arms around his friend.

“I missed you so much. I’m glad you’re okay,” Arthur whispered.

“Me too,” Ethan said, smiling softly.

Cassia’s lips curved as she watched them… two little hearts mending each other without realizing it.

Then, something in the air shifted. A scent warm, familiar, achingly intoxicating – brushed past her senses. Her breath hitched. She didn’t need to turn to know who it was.

The door creaked open.

Aiden stepped inside, his tall frame commanding the room. James followed quietly behind him.

Cassia turned instinctively, her eyes locking with Aiden’s. For a heartbeat, the world around them stilled. The hum of machines, the children’s chatter, the hospital’s distant noise-everything dimmed. His gaze was steady, piercing, and filled with an ache she couldn’t name. She was the first to look away, taking the fragile thread between them,

“Alpha Aiden!” Arthur’s delighted voice cut through the tension le scrambled off the bed, running toward him

“Arthur, wait-!” Cassia began, her heart lurching

Arthur jumped-too high

and for a terrifying second, she sa him falling

Aiden’s reflexes were swift. He caught the boy effortlessly, thoug a quiet grunt of pain slipped from him as he straightened.

Cassia’s hand pressed to her chest, relief and lear colliding inside her “God” she breathed under her breath.

Aiden winced slightly, and her gaze sharpened. His skin looked ale beneath the harsh hospital light, his jaw tighter than usual. Was he in pain?

“Alpha Aiden, I missed you! Where have you been?” Arthur asked his small hands clutching Aiden’s shoulders.

Aiden smiled faintly, lowering him back onto the bed. “I missed you too, little man. I’ve just been busy with work.”

He sat down beside Ethan, his presence instantly softening the room. “How are you feeling now, champ?”

“I’m fine, Daddy,” Ethan said, grinning, his voice still a little weak but filled with joy.

Aiden’s eyes gentled. He ran a hand through his son’s hair, brushing it back with a tenderness that made Cassia’s chest tighten.

Arthur turned, mischief glinting in his eyes. “Mommy, you can go back to your office now. Alpha Aiden’s here with them.”

James scratched the back of his neck, looking guilty. “Yeah, I did the result’s out”

Arthur’s eyes widened. “Really?! So-he’s my dad, right?”

“I don’t know yet,” James admitted. “I haven’t collected it from the lab. I’ll make sure I do that this week.”

Arthur’s hopeful expression faltered. “Oh…” His shoulders slumped.

James crouched down so they were eye level. “I’m sorry, Arthurve just been handling too many cases. But I promise get it soon.”

Arthur looked up, his tone quieter. “Can’t you get it today?”

“I’m swamped today.”

“Tomorrow then?”

“Even busier tomorrow,” James replied, half-grimacing.

Arthur sighed, rubbing his small palms together. “I could get it myself. Did you do the test here in this hospital? We can just go to the lab and-”

“Arthur,” James interrupted gently, resting a hand on his shoulder. “I didn’t do it here. I wanted it to stay secret. Just between us, alright? When I pick it up, you’ll be the first person I tell.”

Arthur’s eyes lowered, sadness flickering across his face. “But I won’t see you again after today… I go to school, and then home. Alpha Aiden doesn’t visit anymore… and you don’t either

James’s chest tightened. The boy’s words hit deeper than he expected. “Don’t worry, I’ll find a way to reach you,” he said softly, managing a reassuring smile.

Arthur nodded, though his lips trembled slightly.

Before James could say more, the door to the ward opened.

Aiden stepped out.

Both of them froze.
