Meanwhile, Cassia was in a new ward, now clean and awake, staring at Seraphina and her baby.
Seraphina held the baby in her arms, her eyes soft and glowing with happiness. Damien sat beside her, a quiet smile on his face. Kael stood near the door, watching silently. His gaze was fixed on Seraphina, who looked cheerful and full of life.
“She didn’t give up, even when we all thought you were gone…” Damien said gently.
Cassia smiled, her heart swelling with emotion. She had no words to thank Seraphina for all she had done. How could a stranger love her so much? It still felt like a miracle she would never fully understand.
“I heard you, Damien,” Seraphina said, turning to him with a teasing tone.
They all laughed softly.
“I’m sorry, Alpha,” Damien muttered, feigning guilt.
Seraphina chuckled.
“So… what should we name him?” Seraphina asked, glancing warmly at Cassia.
Cassia looked around the room, taking in every face. Then she smiled.
“Arthur,” she whispered, as Seraphina gently laid the baby beside her.
A bittersweet smile touched her lips, a mix of pain and joy. The pain of Aiden’s betrayal, of the bond he had broken, still lingered. But she wouldn’t focus on that anymore. Arthur was her light. Her son. And for him, she would stay strong.
“Arthur Wrenmoor, Future Alpha of Velaris Pack,” Seraphina said proudly.
Damien let out a happy laugh.
Cassia’s eyes drifted to Kael, still standing silently at the door. He had always been distant. Since the day she arrived at Velaris Pack, they’d barely exchanged words. Maybe he just didn’t like her.
Or maybe that was just the way he was. But then again she had noticed the look on his face when Seraphina had called Arthur the future alpha of the park: he looked angry. Or she was probably the one over thinking things.
“I’ll go prepare the car to take you home,” Kael said quietly before walking out.
Seraphina sighed. “Kael’s been like that since his wife died. Cold and distant. He only speaks when necessary. I believe, in time, he’ll come around.”
Cassia looked at Damien. She hadn’t known his mother was dead. That explained the silence surrounding her.
“I’m sorry for your loss, Damien,” she said softly.
Damien gave her a small smile. “It happened when I was little. My dad just never moved on. But I have. I’m fine.”
Cassia smiled back.
“Let’s not ruin the mood,” Damien added. “You just gave birth. We should celebrate!”
Cassia laughed. Her eyes wandered to the television, and suddenly she froze.

Chapter 26
Breaking News: Wife of Alpha Aiden Miller, Luna of Red Moon Pack, gives birth to a son.
Sofia had given birth.
Cassia’s chest tightened. Her breath caught. She couldn’t stop the images, what if Aiden hadn’t rejected her? What if Eva were still alive? They could’ve been a happy family. But Aiden destroyed all of that.
He broke their bond.
He nearly killed her.
And he would pay.
Seraphina quickly switched off the TV when she saw Cassia’s mood shift.
Cassia looked away and turned back to Arthur, forcing a smile as she watched his tiny hands and feet move.
Her baby was everything. He was her hope. She would protect him with her life.
When she glanced up, Seraphina and Damien were both watching her.
“What?” she asked, confused.
“Your baby is beautiful,” Damien said.
Cassia smiled, her gaze drifting to Arthur’s face. He looked exactly like Aiden. the eyes, the features, everything. It stung that he hadn’t taken after her, but it didn’t change how deeply she loved him.
“Helen, please take Arthur to the car for his gifts,” she told a maid, who nodded and took Arthur’s hand.
“Mom, don’t you think you’re spoiling him too much?” Cassia teased. “He already has a room full of toys he hasn’t even used yet!”
Seraphina laughed. “He’s my only grandson. If I don’t spoil him, who will?”
Cassia chuckled. She adored the bond between Arthur and Seraphina, so strong, so loving. Sometimes she envied it.
Soon, Arthur returned with the maid, dragging two large suitcases.
Oh no, Cassia thought. Don’t tell me those are all toys.
She watched them disappear into Arthur’s room.
Her heart ached.
Arthur’s smile… his brown eyes… the way his nose scrunched when he laughed. He had taken everything from Aiden.
She hoped one day Arthur wouldn’t ask about his father, because she didn’t have an answer.
Just as she was turning to leave, the door opened. Damien stepped in.
“Cassia,” he greeted warmly, walking toward her,
“Hey, you’re back from work,” she smiled.
“Yes, and I stopped by the mall. Got you something.” He handed her a box.
Cassia opened it. Jewelry, elegant and expensive.
“Damien, this is too much. I can’t accept it,” she said, trying to return it.
He gently stopped her hand. “You’ve turned down every gift I’ve given you. The least you can do is wear this tomorrow at the event.”
Cassia touched her forehead. She had almost forgotten, there was a major event tomorrow. Alphas from different packs would attend.
Her heart skipped.
What if Aiden came?
