Chapter 591 Plotting
However, Zara simply couldn’t sit still.
Kenny found his gaze drawn to her again, completely against his will.
Maybe it was because she was in a good mood, or maybe the food was just that delicious, but she wiggled happily as she ate, adiating joy. She was even humming a cheerful, tuneless melody with her mouth full.
Watching her, so vivid and full of life, Kenny couldn’t look away. A strange lightness spread through his chest.
“By the way…”
Without warning, Zara turned her head, and their eyes locked.
They stared at each other, the atmosphere freezing into a delicate, awkward stillness for nearly half a minute.
It was Kenny who broke first, hastily looking away in a slightly flustered manner, pretending to be engrossed in his phone.
Seeing his nervous reaction, Zara narrowed her eyes mischievously.
Clutching the thermos, she sprang up from the floor and plopped down right next to him on the sofa.
“You were staring at me.”
Kenny’s face flushed red, and he snapped back in embarrassment, “Who–who was staring at you? Don’t flatter yourself.”
“Oh. So not staring. Just looking with ill intent, then.”
Zara stuffed another bite of food into her mouth, her cheeks puffing out like a chipmunk. “You aren’t plotting another way to target
me, are you?”
“I don’t have that kind of free time,” Kenny huffed, letting out a scornful laugh.
Zara watched him with interest for a moment. Just as Kenny’s composure was about to crack, he quickly said, “What were you going to say earlier? Spit it out. I need to get back.”
Zara pouted. “I wanted to tell you not to mention what happened downstairs to Noah or your parents.”
Kenny frowned. “You mean that Janet?”
“Yeah.”
Having polished off the soup, Zara leaned over to screw the lid back onto the thermos. “If you tell them, they’ll definitely be unhappy. They’ll either transfer Janet out or give her a private warning. Either way, I don’t want them worrying too much or interfering.”
Hearing her bring this up herself, Kenny turned to look at her, his gaze growing complex.
“I thought… you would be the first to tell them.”
After all, Janet had given her a hard time, and would likely continue to target her.

That was human nature.
And Zara was so impulsive, she hated losing out on anything
She was supposed to be vain, greedy for fame and profit. Now that she held the title of chairman, instead of using it to throw her weight around, she was asking him to keep her secret?
Kenny was genuinely surprised.
Or rather, he simply couldn’t read her.
Every time… every time he thought he had her figured out, she would do something unconventional, something completely outside his expectations, and overturn his entire perception of her.
This woman…
She was truly erratic.
Zara rolled her eyes at him. “What is there to tell? I decided to come here to see if I actually have what it takes to be a designer. If i wanted to use my status to crush people, why would I be hiding my identity in the first place?
“Besides, Janet’s character might suck, but she’s the director of the design department for a reason. She’s definitely got skills if get her fired before I can steal her techniques, wouldn’t I be wasting a perfectly good opportunity?”
Hearing this, the confusion in Kenny’s eyes cleared instantly. He let out a short, ambiguous laugh. “And here I thought you had actually grown some backbone. Turns out Janet just still has utility value.
“Zara, you really are scheming.”
