Korbin slammed on the gas, the car shooting forward. He didn’t wait for the man to finish before snapping back, “Why are you calling me about something so trivial?”

The voice on the other end turned frantic and apologetic. “But Mr. Chapman, we ran a background check. The owner of Radcliffe Architecture is Mr. Caldwell’s father–in–law. We didn’t dare make that call on our own.”

Korbin nearly jerked the steering wheel, quickly gripping it with both hands to steady the car.

His face hardened. “Are you absolutely sure about that?”

“One thousand percent. Radcliffe Architecture is well–known in Seabar. Rumor has it they had cash flow problems recently and the Caldwell family bailed them out, so the connection is real.

“Now that they’re expanding into Jindiwood, our competitors are dying to work with them just to cozy up to the Caldwell Group. That’s why I’m asking–should we eat the three percent cost to get the deal?”
