While waiting for their food, Jade handed Wendy the perfume she had brought.

"Guerlain's Dream of Love. I managed to score it from my aunt."

The bottle was encrusted with diamonds. One look was enough to tell it cost an absolute fortune.

Wendy pulled out her phone. "How much? I'll transfer you the money."

The perfume was immediately snatched right out of her hands.

Jade looked deeply offended. "If you try to pay me for this, I'm taking it back."

She huffed, "We slept in the same dorm room for four years. You got married. Isn't it practically a requirement that I get you an expensive gift?"

"You have to accept this."

Jade shoved the bottle back into Wendy's arms. "Besides this, I have another gift for you, but you'll have to wait until you move into your new place to get it."

Move into the new place?

Sampson had only mentioned the property transfer today.

She still had a month left of her Chief Resident contract. There was no rush.

The takeout arrived at the nurse's station.

Wendy went out to grab it.

When she returned to the breakroom, Jade had her face pressed against Wendy's desk, looking like she was inspecting it for clues.

"What are you looking at?" Wendy asked, setting the BBQ on the table.

"Hold on a second." Jade pushed the takeout bags aside.

She looked totally neurotic, acting like a woman scouring a bedsheet for a cheating boyfriend's stray hairs.

Jade straightened up and pointed an accusatory finger. "Has Sampson slept in this room recently?"

Question mark.

"How did you even notice that?" Wendy asked.

Jade looked Wendy up and down.

She pointed at the textbooks on the desk. "We lived in the same room for four years. Tell me, when have you ever arranged your books like this?"

Medical textbooks were massive and plentiful. Wendy's habit had always been to toss them randomly onto her desk once she was done reading.
