My Secret Husband Is My Cold Boss novel Chapter 63

Thanks to Wesley's loud comment.

Riley remained uncharacteristically silent for the rest of the drive.

The bus headed out toward the suburbs. Cloudridge Resort & Spa was built on a newly developed plot of land, and because it was a members-only establishment, it wasn't overly crowded on weekends.

Leo went to the front desk to grab everyone's room keys.

Those who brought their spouses shared a room, while the single staff members were paired up in doubles.

Since the cardiothoracic department had no female doctors, and Wendy and Riley were the only women from cardiology, they naturally roomed together.

When it came to Sampson's room assignment, Leo hesitated.

The numbers were perfectly even.

If he gave the director a single room, that meant another colleague would also have to take a single.

There was no fair way to decide who got the extra single room.

But forcing the director to share a room with a subordinate was even worse.

"You take a room for yourself, and I'll take a single," Sampson said, effortlessly solving Leo's dilemma.

"You've been working hard as the chief resident. No one will have a problem with it."

"Also, upgrade Wendy and Riley to a suite. It's not safe for two young women to use the public hot springs."

"Right."

Leo was a straightforward guy who rarely overthought things.

With Sampson's reminder, it suddenly clicked. He scratched his head and apologized to Wendy. "Sorry about that, Dr. Gates. My mistake, I wasn't paying attention."

"It's fine."

As Wendy shook her head, Sampson had already pulled out his phone to pay.

Since this entire retreat was pitched as a welcome party in his honor, there was no reason to make Director Zachary foot the bill.

Sampson pulled up his payment QR code and held it out for the receptionist.

Ding—

In the middle of the crowd, Wendy's phone chimed.

Riley swallowed hard. "Now I'm seriously looking forward to the day your relationship goes public. I can't wait to see the looks on everyone's faces!"

Wendy didn't say a word.

And Riley didn't press the issue.

Because the moment she turned around, her attention was entirely captivated by the luxurious amenities of their suite.

Out on the suite's balcony sat a private, open-air hot spring pool!

Taking in the sweeping resort views through the window, Riley sighed dramatically. "Eating fresh fruit, sipping fine wine... so this is what it feels like to live at the top of the food chain. My bestie got married, and I'm the one reaping the benefits!"

Next to the temperature-controlled pool sat a mini-fridge.

It was fully stocked with a beautiful array of fruits and beverages.

On the display shelf sat a complete set of Bvlgari toiletries. The very first thought that popped into Riley's head was: "Can I take whatever we don't use home?"

"Yes, you can," Wendy said, patting her on the head.

"But before we soak in the hot springs, shouldn't we go grab some food?"
