The gala continued, and Melody did not leave early.
She pasted a flawless smile back onto her face, circulating among the socialites with her champagne glass as if nothing had happened.
Whenever she passed Seraphina, her gaze would discreetly linger on her.
Seraphina felt the stare but didn't even bother to bat an eyelash.
Little Bean grumbled in her belly, "Mom, that Melody woman keeps looking at you. Is she plotting something evil?"
Seraphina took a sip of her juice and casually replied in her mind, "Let her."
Little Bean continued, "Don't be scared, Mom. I'm here, and I'll protect you."
Seraphina offered a faint smile and gently rubbed her abdomen.
Sure enough, as Seraphina stepped out of the restroom, she ran straight into Melody at the corner.
Seraphina figured she needed to start checking her horoscope before leaving the house.
Look at this, another unwanted encounter.
The woman was like a leech she just couldn't shake off.
Melody was momentarily startled before a fake smile spread across her face. "Ms. Simmons, you should be careful walking around with that big belly. The floors are slippery. If you were to lose that baby, you might just lose your position as Mrs. Langford, too."
Seraphina replied with a flat tone, "Thank you for the concern, Ms. Monroe. But perhaps you should spend more time worrying about your own affairs. After all, you aren't getting any younger."
Little Bean cheered, "Nice comeback, Mom! This woman is so wicked, actually cursing me."
Melody clenched her fists in fury.
That damn bitch!
Just you wait!
As the gala came to an end, Seraphina walked out with Tiffany.
Tiffany hooked her arm through Seraphina's and lowered her voice. "Sera, I'm serious. You made Melody lose face in front of everyone today. There's no way she'll let this go."
"Be careful around her. She plays dirty."
