My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 162

Little Bean muttered quietly from her womb, "Mommy, her overly friendly act is giving me the creeps."

"It's fine," Seraphina replied in her mind.

She reached out to block the bowl Zelda was offering, her tone flat. "No need. I'm not having any."

Zelda's smile stiffened once again. "Then help yourself, help yourself. Don't stand on ceremony, we're all family here."

Sitting at the head of the table, Samuel took a sip of his soup, seemingly trying to figure out how to start the conversation.

Silence fell over the dining table for a few seconds, making the atmosphere slightly tense.

Seraphina wasn't in any rush. She picked up her fork and slowly began to eat.

Seeing Seraphina quietly focusing on her food, Zelda grew anxious.

She shot Samuel a pointed look.

Setting his bowl down, Samuel cleared his throat and finally spoke up. "Seraphina, how have things been for you at the Langford house lately?"

Without even looking up, Seraphina replied dryly, "Pretty good."

Made uncomfortable by her lukewarm response, Samuel pushed on. "Is Mr. Langford treating you well?"

"Very well."

Samuel opened his mouth, completely at a loss for what to say next.

Beside him, Zelda was internally panicking and quickly jumped in. "Seraphina, knowing you're doing so well with the Langford family brings us so much relief. Even though your dad doesn't say it out loud, he's constantly worrying about you."

Seraphina lifted her eyes to look at her. The corners of her lips curled up slightly, but the smile never reached her eyes. "Worrying about me? In what way exactly?"

Zelda shifted uncomfortably under her piercing gaze, her smile almost slipping entirely.
