Zelda Gates froze for a moment, clearly not expecting Seraphina Simmons to agree so readily, but she was overjoyed. "Six o'clock, six sharp! I'll be waiting for you," she urged hastily.
"Got it."
After speaking, Seraphina simply hung up the phone.
Staring at the disconnected line, Zelda's smile deepened, a glint of triumph flashing in her eyes.
She turned to Samuel Simmons, who was sitting nearby. "Seraphina agreed," she smiled. "She's coming over tonight at six."
Samuel nodded, his face betraying no emotion.
Meanwhile.
Seraphina put her phone down and leaned back against the sofa, her fingers gently brushing her slightly rounded stomach.
Little Bean was pacing anxiously in her womb. "Mommy, are you really going? Didn't I just tell you? This is a total trap! A setup! I'm repeating it three times because it's important!"
Amused by his panic, Seraphina's lips curved into a smile as she replied in her mind, "I know."
Little Bean grew even more frantic. "You know, and you're still going? Are you crazy, Mommy? Zelda is totally two-faced, she's probably plotting something terrible for you!"
"It's exactly because I can guess what she's up to that I have to go," Seraphina replied calmly.
Little Bean paused. "What do you mean?"
Seraphina lowered her eyelashes. "They wouldn't be this overly attentive without a hidden agenda."
"Rather than letting them plot behind my back, I might as well show up and see exactly what kind of game they're playing."
Little Bean thought about it and realized his mother had a point, though he still wasn't entirely convinced. "Then I'll keep an eye on them for you! If they dare try anything funny, I'll tell you immediately!"
Seraphina smiled softly. "Alright, I'm counting on you."
